This is just a simple A-Z. You can use the following in essential oil, soap, incense or scented candle forms, or in their natural forms, to lift the energies in your home and bring in the following magickal properties.

Again, you may want to start a collection of these in your own home for whenever you want to draw on them. These are more expensive than common herbs but you may wish to ask for them for presents, or buy them as "needs must" and build them up that way.

*** None of these are to be ingested. Keep out of the reach of children. ***

Bergamot - Attracts joy, especially for those who have suffered grief, helps with heart healing and sets the mood perfectly for visualisation exercises

Chamomile - Deflects anger, is calming and soothing, and combats over-sensitivity and anxiety

Clary sage - To attract vivid or lucid dreams and spiritual visions

Cypress - Helps at times of transition, including times of grief

Dragon's blood - Burn for protection within the home; dragon's blood can also be used ceremonially during spellcrafting, rituals, wishmaking or on special occasions and obviously calls upon archetypal dragon energies of strength, courage, wisdom and grace - by the way, the natural form is a red resin

Eucalyptus - Helps to heal colds, sinus problems and influenzas; is a psychic as well as physical purifier and clears energy in your home, especially after arguments

Frankincense - A sacred ceremonial oil which can be used in rituals such as wish work, spellcraft and prayer or for consecrating an altar or sacred space; can also aid meditation, channelling or visualisation, and assists in "moving on" from the past

Jasmine - Known as a romantic oil so one to burn during that romantic dinner with dp - helps to blend physical and spiritual love; also well-known for raising your home's vibrations to connect with angels

Lavender - This is such a universal scent - it is well-known in its use for healing and soothing of cold, flu and sinus symptoms; it can also aid sleep and help insomniacs as well as promoting lucid dreaming; it is known for use in love charms (using ground lavender or sprigs of lavender, carrying these in a pouch can help attract love to your life; protection from abuse; longevity - you can also put a sprig of lavender under your pillow and make a wish - supposedly if you dream of something related to your wish, it will come true!

Nag champa - An important Indian incense, nag champa can be used as a universal healing scent, with antiseptic and analgesic properties as well as purifying properties - also very powerful to use alongside prayer

Neroli/Orange - Brings in joy and cheer and can strengthen the immune system

Patchouli - This is an incredibly grounding scent so it is an absolute must for anyone doing spiritual activities, and can ease meditation as it provides such a firm connection with the earth - it's also an aphrodisiac!

Peppermint - Stimulates mental faculties and aids clarity when you're making decisions

Pine - A healing scent, it has expectorant and decongestant properties so is brilliant when someone in your house has a cold or flu; it can also fight infection and boost the immune system - it's also good for generally lifting spirits

Rose - Opens the heart to unconditional love, also sets a romantic mood so put a few drops in the bath and share it with dp for a boost of love ; helps to balance sexuality with spirituality and can also attract new romance to users who are looking for it

Sandalwood - Stills the conscious mind (didn't some of you say you struggled with that with meditation) and so assists meditation; can also help you "move on" from the past, including healing past lives

Tea-tree - Universal healer, including healing of anxiety, stress and emotional disorders

Ylang ylang - For confidence, sensuality, feeling and radiating your own beauty, attracting others to you, and standing in your own power - an absolute must for any aspiring witch or spiritual goddess
