First of all, sorry for the quality of the pictures. I was so busy prepping everything that I left my mom and DH to take pics... oops.

The first birthday is a very big deal in Korean custom (DH is Korean), so we had quite a party to throw. I made pretty much everything at home.

This is the head table with a bunch of traditional stuff on it. I'll save you all the details , but if anyone is interested, just ask!

The food buffet (all recipes can be found here)

And the dessert table

Emerson in his hanbok

One part of the celebration is the doljabi. Several items are laid out in front of the baby. The order of the items he chooses is supposed to foretell his future. Emerson chose rice first, then the thread. He bypassed the money and the pen. Rice = never hungry; thread= long life; money= wealth; pen = scholar.

By this point, E was super tired and not really excited about getting strapped into his high chair.

"wait, maybe I can stay up a little longer"

"this is pretty good"

"back off my cake!"

Thanks for looking!

So cute! The food looks really tasty. I'm amazed at how different your boys look.
