I am thinking we will try cloth from the start this time. A friend of mine told me about a sell off for 2 days worth of new born cloth for $30! It's one of her friends so I know its a clean household etc. For $30 I am not turning it down. Heck, I can't get a large box of sposies for that! I think they are closest to Apple Cheeks?
So cloth Mama's. Which ones did you Love and which ones did you Hate? I know the more common names - Bum Genuis, Fuzzi Bunz a another one or two but what did you all prefer? And why, if you don't mind elaborating?
Thanks Ladies!!

We started using cloth with Kolbie when she was 3 months old and only used prefolds and covers. Blueberry/Swaddlebees was having a huge clearance sale and I cleaned up! When she was 9-10 months old I started building up a stash of pockets and I've got a variety of those. That's all we use now along with 2 BG AIO's. I liked them all for the different ages.

Thanks Mylene! I think these are all prefolds too. I don't think they are going to be as time consuming and tricky as I initially thought. I found a tutorial on you tube that seems pretty fool proof!
Swaddlebees is new to me....off to have a look

I have never tried to use prefolds or fitteds. I currently use pocket diapers by Kawaii, Baby Kanga, sunbaby and Fuzzibuns. I also have 15 Bumgenius Elementals AIO's. Here is the breakdown:
KawaiI: the round tabs are my favorite diaper for fit and cleaning solids off them. I do find that they show wear and tear fairly quickly. There is also a little inconsistancy on how the different styles of diapers fit.
Baby Kanga: These got wing droop really bad when Kate was smaller, but now work great. I love how the pocket has a zipper on the outside to remove the insert. Clean easily.
Sunbaby: The 4.0's are very trim. The inserts are a lot smaller than other diapers so they don't hold as much, but I don't have issues with leaking or anything. I like the fit of these.
Fuzzibuns: I don't care for the fit of these. They are a large though and Kate really only needs a medium in them. I don't like how they aren't one sized.
BG Elementals: I love how they don't have to be stuffed. These are the best fitting and trim diaper, but they are my least favorite diaper for one reason. The poo gets in between the 3 sown in layers and they are hard to spray clean. They also stain really really easy.

For the NB stage, we used PFs almost exclusively and a couple of AIOs. I loved the jelly roll or angel wings folds for the PFs. I don't recommend tri-folding your PFs until Baby's poos are a less frequent and more solid.
As he got older, we started diversifying our stash some more. The bulk of our stash is pockets. I still use PFs a lot (trifolded, angel wings, or stuffed into pockets) and some fitteds.
Kawaii - these make up the bulk of my commercial brand diapers. I got a screaming deal on them used before E was born. The only issues I have with them is that they're cut large (so they don't start fitting until after most other brands do) and they're velcro sucks (but snaps are great).
Fuzzibunz One Size - the only diaper I've gotten rid of. I hated it. No matter how many times I tried adjusting it, I couldn't get a good fit. He leaked every time he wore it.
FB Perfect size - Love them. The sized ones are trim and pretty bulletproof. I had one with some delaminating and FB's customer service took care of it.
Oh Katy - I only have one of these and wish I had more. The fit is great for E. He's got a long narrow build and it's perfect for him. The cut is a bit smaller than some other OS diapers, so I'm not sure how long it will fit, but for now, it's great.
The rest of my diapers are all homemade, so I can't help much beyond that. Consider checking out the CD board. They have a lot more experience with other brands. I'm not sure if Nicki's Diapers ships to Canada, but if they do, they have they're own line called Imagine. I have the PFs, but they've recently come out with pockets and covers. They're reasonably priced and given the quality of the PFs, I'll probably be trying some of their new stuff soon.

Hmmm...interesting. Ok so you mentioned spraying them. Did you all buy the toilet sprayer attachments for rinsing?
Thanks Holly, that's great info

I don't have a sprayer. E's poop is very plop-able so this hasn't been an issue. I bought stuff to add a sprayer to the utility sink in our garage, but since we haven't needed it, I haven't gotten around to installing it.

Awesome Shannon, Thanks!!! We must have posted at the same time before. It looks like pre-folds are most peoples preference.

We don't have a sprayer for the same reason. It's really not that bad.
I did the opposite of Shannon with the pfs - trifolded when she was a tiny baby and then used a Snappi and the angel fold after she was bigger
And Shannon, I too have only 1 Oh Katy (got it when they rebranded so it's actually a Katydid) and it's my favorite!! Kolbie is pretty long and narrow as well and it still fits great! She's not on the smallest snaps but the 2nd from the inside still, so I'd be willing to bed E will get a lot more use out of it!
My total stash is 1 Oh Katy (love it!), 1 Blueberry pocket (love love love the bamboo inserts!), 2 FB PS pockets (1 med and 1 lg, love them both), 2 BG's (1 3.0 and 1 4.0, I'm not loving the velcro but the ability to stuff the 4.0 to up the absorbancy is awesome), and 2 other random pockets that were a new brand and I got a deal on (I like them, one has stars on it so it's Kolbie's favorite, they aren't much different from the FB's).

I do have a diaper sprayer and would be up a paddle without it, but Kate's poo is more like peanut butter.

I didn't have a diaper sprayer, but in hindsight I wouldn't have minded one! There were times I used the squirt bottle they give you in the hospital to get a good stream to lift the poop off
I never used prefolds so I'm no help there. I used many different brands of pockets, AIOs, AI2s, and some fitteds and covers.

I'm definitely a prefold kind of girl. I don't really know why, I just love them. So easy to wash. I used infant sized prefolds that I found on craigslist for super cheap for probably about 5 months. I had about 2 dozen prefolds and 6 covers that were a size small. When she needed the next size up, I checked out Green Mountain Diapers for their seconds sale. I guess the stitching on the prefold wasn't as perfect as they wanted so they discounted them. I have two dozen of the red edge size (I guess a medium). We use prefolds for around the house.
Fitteds: I love these for nights. They are awesome for heavy wetters or long sleepers. I scored a few infant sized fitteds on craigslist (7-15 lbs) that we used for quick night time diaper changes in the first few weeks. My favorite brand is BuBuBeBe. They are so soft, absorbent, and oh so pretty. You do need a cover for these.
Pockets: this is what we use for daycare. BumGenius was a great brand for Lily, but Abri was a lot chubbier and we couldn't get a good fit on her. Abri does great with Fuzzibunz perfect size. We also have a Charlie Banana brand, which is a knock off FB one size. I love that one too.
I've never had a diaper sprayer. When Abri is teething, I kick myself for not having one but that's not every day. I have had to dunk and swish before, but it's few and far between. Not a big deal.
You will need to consider a pail liner or wet bag. I have a large kitchen trashcan with a swinging lid and a pail liner for the nursery. I also have two large wet bags (holds 5-6) for daycare, and one small one for the diaper bag.
