My hair is still falling out/breaking off really bad since the hashi-toxicosis oct-jan, it's because when your thyroid is out of whack your hair grows very weakly and breaks and falls out easily.

I've researched and bought some essential oils to try to treat my hair at night to get it growing again (I take biotin every day for months and it does nothing) or at least strengthened and looking better. I got coconut oil as a carrier, rosemary, lavendar, jojoba, and clearysage.

I tried it last night. OMG it stunk so bad. I used wayyy to much rosemary. I almost made myself sick LOL I rinsed much of it out and fell asleep with my hair wrapped in a towel wet to suppress the smell and of course this morning the hair fall was IMMENSE from doing that and working it so much. Soooo failed experiment #1.

Tonight I'm going to try the coconut oil and just jojoba on my scalp and roots and see if that's better.

Have you ever tried home remedies for hair fixes and had any success?
I figured I'd try this before going through expensive store options.

I used to get massive bald patches when I was hyperthyroid. I didn't do any minerals/oils, etc. but I recall being told to sleep on a silk/satin pillow case and to be careful about brushing my hair when wet, styling, etc.

As far as the breakage... maybe olive oil? My grandmother used to swear by mayo, though I never tried it.

My grandmother used to swear by mayo and wrapping the hair in a towel.

Prenatals always seem to help hair and nails really well! Plus they are good for you overall!

I tried the jojoba and coconut and my hair feels good 2 days later! I may use that every other night for awhile. I've heard about olive oil but my hair is so fine i'm afraid of it being greasy and weighed down. I may try mayo, that sounds fun haha

oh man mayo is bad. i tried it in college and never again.

mane and tail is a good shampoo for antibreakage. neutrogena also has a deep conditioning treatment that is excellent.
