So I knew this day was coming because he was old but we only seen him twice I think maybe3 times. There are no other doctors in San Antonio that is a metabolic specialist. Well according to the letter they sent us. When they referred us out they even told me he was the only one in San Antonio that is metabolic specialist. They sent us a list of.

Austin-Dell Children
Houston Texas Children
Ft Worth TX-Cook Childrens
Dallas TX-Children's medical center

Austin is closer but Houston we could make a family weekend trip. I just think after awhile we would get tired of driving the 4 hours to Houston for these checkups. My friend did tell me the Dell Children is awesome.

Your thoughts Heather on the Dell Children? Do you know anything about them?

Either way, this one appointment will become an all day event now...

I hate decisions like this.

That's really unfortunate that your local doctor is retiring and not being replaced. Having to make an all day event out of a doctor's appointment really sucks. But, I think this falls under the "gotta do what you gotta do" category. Maybe there will be a silver lining here and maybe your new doc will be awesome and then you won't mind the drive as much. Good luck on your decision making, I'm sure you'll get it all sorted out.

Dell Children's is top notch. They are very busy and very wanted.. so if you run late, they re-book you. First hand knowledge on that. But they are highly recommended. Texas Children's in Houston is as well. Both very good practices.

If you come to Austin.. it's only an hour and a half drive as opposed to double that for Houston. (all depending on time of day and traffic).

But if you came to Austin, you could visit me and Meg! lol

1.5 hour drive is not bad at all and if it's got such a good reputation, sounds like a really good option, especially if it's comperable the other which is double the distance.

from where i live San Antonio it would be about 2 hours and Houston is about 3.5-4 hours. I,ve accepted it, sucks but like you said You have to do what you have to do. It will still be an all day event.

Wow, that stinks. It's hard to believe there are no other pediatric endocrinologists he can see in such a populous area.

San Antonio Pediatric Endocrinologists - Pediatric Endocrinology near San Antonio, TX (Texas) is that metabolic? I thought endocrine was the same?
