Eh. He's done several years of summer swimming lessons but I wouldn't say that he can swim. He does know how to float, do big arms, kick etc but I would not feel comfortable with him just taking off into the pool away from me.
I really would love him to do more consecutive lessons but it is so expensive! So we're stuck with the summer ones.

She is getting close but not quite there. Dh will let her go and she is able to stay up for longer than she used to.

with swimmies on Syd is great, she can stay up, jump off the dive, float and actually swim all over the place. She goes around the pool by herself and doesn't need much help, if any. Without swimmies she is getting better, we practice without swimmies a little each time and every time she does better than the last. She has done swimming class a few times and has always been very comfortable in the water, in the winter she will do her first class that doesn't include a parent and she can't wait! During the summer months my sister has a pool and I think that has taught her more than actual swim class, she really loves the water, so does Sam but he still needs a person to hold onto often but he also gets better and better each time we swim.

Not even close. She scoots around with a ring float or swimmies. Swim lessons are so costly - $20/lesson and pool access is hard around here, I have to figure something out soon.

He swims very well with his puddle jumper, he can get around really quickly and go way over his head. Without it on, he can swim under water holding his breath for a few seconds but then stands up, he can't do it over his head.

Aidan has just started doing his front glide for about a metre without assistance. His instructor is now working on the rhythmic breathing so that he'll be able to lift his head to breath and keep swimming. That still needs work because right now he stops with the first breath.
With the puddle jumper, he's good to go. He did 3 laps in the pool with it this afternoon.

No, she's just gotten to the point of not being afraid to put her head in the water. She took swimming lessons twice this summer to even get to that point.

She's finally comfortable in the water this summer. She says she can "swim" but I didn't get to watch her lessons this year due to being in the pool with Kolbie at the same time. Next year I'll get to watch both I think so I'll know for sure. We haven't had a chance to go to the pool since lessons ended in June.

if she is in the shallow end where she can touch she can hold her breath and swim underwater, but if she knows her feet don't touch she is too scared to try. she can't swim holding her head above water, but whenever we go to the pool we work on kicking, doing big arm movements, and floating on her back.

Ha! Liam is petrified of the water. The closest he gets to "swimming" is latching on to me like a rabid octopus while I walk out into the water. Once the water hits his chest, he's done.

She loveslovesloves svimming and will yell "im going swimming im going swimming" almost the whole way from daycare to the swimming on days when we go.
They have a family 'free' swimming time each week at the local school where everyone can come if they want so no lessons but tons cheaper and still practice for swimming
She can swim great with the arm rings on but still working on without them, she is getting there though I think, especially after spending almost the whole two weeks we were in Isreal in the pool for hours daily haha

She "swims" with her life jacket on. Even then it is just floating around the pool. She is terrified of putting her face in the water

Mine can't swim but they love to try. We went to a pool yesterday and they had a blast playing in the shallow end. I'm impressed so many of your guys' little ones can swim already!

Frederick wears a life vest but he's learning to kick, move his arms, and "swim" as much as he can with that on. He'll go across the pool and back. He loves swimming now and will even jump right in.
Next summer I plan to get a YMCA membership for us so he can swim a lot more after school/weekends.
