Popping in from the Oct DDC.

If you had the nuchal u/s before 20 weeks, the gender anatomy is not fully developed and can be mistaken for the wrong gender. Especially if the u/s was done 16 weeks or earlier.

Congrats on your little boy!

Uh oh! Congrats on your baby boy though! How far along were you at your scan? I have one tomorrow and I'll be 16 weeks 2 days and I'm hoping they can tell. Do you think that's too early?!

Congrats on the great news!!! Wow, from girl to boy. That was a cool surprise, I am sure!

I did not get the NT test earlier in preg., so am just going on gut instinct, but I have also heard that anything prior to 18 weeks is really not very accurate... Which is why I am waiting til mid 18th week for the big U/S. It's hard to wait, but I would rather wait and get a better sense of how ALL (heart, kidneys, brain...) are doing and what the gender is than to give in to impatience and get inaccurate results or unnecessary stress.

I am glad you and DH are so excited with this news. You loved this baby from the getgo, girl or boy.

Wow, what a bit of news for you! Congrats on your now baby boy!

I'm not all that surprised though because the NT Scan is done in the 11 - 13 week time frame and that really is too early to give an accurate determination of gender. Heck, even at 20 weeks they make mistakes. I couldn't believe how many of you on here were actually being told that early, to be honest. I wonder if there are any other oopsie surprises coming up in the next few weeks??

Wowww, thats so awesome! Congrats! I'm hoping that my u/s tech was wrong also, but I HIGHLY doubt it. I think that 16weeks + is far enough to be able to tell the gender cause we were able to see the three lines for a girl and the tech was saying that if it was a boy... you'd be able to see the "turtle" already.. hahah!

I have an u/s next week, I will be 16.5 weeks then. I cannot wait to find out, but I will have them double check at 20 weeks just in case!!

It is possible that they "determined" the sex too soon and thats why there was an error. Im happy for you 2 and your little boy.

you're so funny. i am mopping around thinking im having a lil boy ,which the dr told me at 14 weeks. well now that i am going to be 17 weeks next week, i think there is still a chance. SO has even named our lil "boy" but i can still picture a daughter but my lil boys parts were really showing.

I'm glad that you are excited with the news despite the initial error! Hope you guys hadn't purchased anything for a girl yet, and if you did, hope you didn't take it out of the packages!
