Well, I know we touched on this before, but now that it is time to buy/bake stuff...

I totally love my doc and her office. I am PRAYING, and I mean that very literally, that our little gal waits until AFTER Christmas to bless us... but want to give my doc a gift for the holidays.

Would you:

Give the office a gift basket of some type for the holidays (how many of these will they get?) If so... give the doc another gift after delivery if it is so close to the holidays?

Wait until delivery to offer a gift?

I am thinking something not costly, as mentoned before: cookies, candy, tea, coffee, hot choc, flowers?... something like this...

BUT, will they get inundated with these gifts? What is ethical for them to accept? (being a psychologist, it is difficult for me to accept gifts from current clients, per the ethical code... but some things are acceptable if not monetarily derived)

So many things to consider! What are your thoughts?

I see 4 different doctors in 2 different offices. I'm lucky to bump into the same person twice. So I don't really feel that a gift is necessary. It would get lost in the fray. I'm sure a card is nice enough.

I'll probably just give the doctor and staff a nice thank you card after the baby is born. I think a gift basket would be nice, but A. I don't have the money and B. It sounds like you and your doctor are much closer.

Being a pharmaceutical rep I see doctors offices getting many, many gift baskets and baked goods. You are such a creative person(thanks for the shower hostess gift ideas, btw) I'm sure you can think of a great idea. I love my doctors office as well and will probably bring them something, maybe Starbucks coffee at a morning appointment, a nice coffee mug, gourmet hot cocoa, fruit(they all seem pretty healthy.) Let me know what you think of!

Oh... no! Pressure's on! I don't know if I can do it again I do know I am bring my doc a gift regarding office paint colors and moods (they are looking to paint the office and I started talking about research with colors and personal emotional states... so that is one thing I am going to bring her).

Maybe we can brainstorm!

I would expect that the doctor's office would probably get quite a few gift baskets around Christmas time. It's the easiest thing to give that allows all the staff to share. Because your due date is so close to the holidays anyway, you may want to consider a card for Christmas and a gift basket after baby is born and after the big gift giving time has passed.

The other option that I've thought of is a charitable donation in their name - it could even be to the hospital itself. I'm not sure if things are the same in the US as Canada, but the hospitals here are always doing fundraising of some sort to upgrade, etc...
