Here's how this will work:

We'll go by weeks, Sunday through Saturday. The challenge starts August 3rd and will end on August 30th. You can post your entire month's worth of menus all at once if you plan that far ahead, or you can add your menus week-by-week - however you prefer.

At the end of each week, come back and post how you did. Which meals did you stick to? Which did you cheat on?

The winner will be chosen by tallying up points based on how well you stuck to the menu. One point for each menu meal achieved. Of course, it's all just for fun.

*One bonus point can be earned each week by adding a frugal recipe to the Cooking on a Frugal Budget section. Double points if your recipe includes a cost breakdown!

For August, let's just do dinners and see how it goes.

Menu PLAN

Week 1 - Starting August 3
Sunday - Country ribs on the grill, couscous, green beans
Monday - Asian Meatballs w/ Rice Noodles
Tuesday - "Breakfast for Dinner" (sausage, egg and cheese burritos or quesadillas, fresh fruit)
Wednesday - Whole wheat spaghetti with shrimp and Tomato Cream Sauce
Thursday - Cube steaks, macaroni and cheese, Tater Tots
Friday - Throw-together pasta (noodles, spinach, cheese, spaghetti sauce, ground beef)
Saturday - Chinese Roast Chicken w/ Gravy, take-out fried rice (the home-cooked vs. go out compromise!)

Week 2 - Starting August 10
Sunday - Texas rubbed spareribs, broccoli with garlic and white wine, salads
Monday - Szechwan Shrimp with brown rice, salads
Tuesday - Tacos
Wednesday - Leftovers and/or takeout
Thursday - VACATION!
Friday - VACATION!
Saturday - VACATION!

Week 3 - Starting August 17
Sunday -

Week 1

Friday - Throw-together pasta (noodles, spinach, cheese, spaghetti sauce, ground beef) - Used Pizza Casserole from my Playroom's recipe sticky. Fantastic!

The differences between my menu and what actually happened are italicized, but I pretty much stuck with the plan!

Sunday - Homemade Pizza
Monday - Baked chicken, whole grain rice, broccoli
Tuesday - Hamburgers, homemade fries, corn on the cobb
Wednesday - Spaghetti
Thursday - Dinner at my parents
Friday - Baked chicken, noodles, mixed veggies
Saturday - Leftovers - spaghetti, chicken wraps, etc.

This was a really good idea and make give some incentive for me to stick to my menu plans.. we should do one again at some point, I missed this one

I plan my menu's 2 weeks at time. It save money and aggrevation.

I do the same thing. I try and make my menu's with stuff that I have on hand then add stuff to my grocery list to finish up the meals.

Week of June 13th

Sunday-t-bone steak, potato, corn on the cob and leftover limas
Monday-homemade mac and cheese with stewed tomatoes
Tuesday-chicken, scalloped potatoes and a veggie
Wednesday-not sure yet
Thursday-Dh and I have a dinner meeting. The girls will eat leftovers or what they want.
Friday-Tacos
Saturday--leave open
