3-4 lb. chicken (1.74-3.16, depending how good of a sale you get, and how big of a bird)
1/2 cup onion, chopped (.10)
2 TBSP butter (.10)
juice of 1 lemon (I use some drops from the lemon shaped juicer--.20)
1 TBSP fresh parsley (.10)
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp thyme
1/4 tsp paprika (.15 added for the spices)
**remove excess fat from chicken, rinse, and pat dry. Place the onion in the cavity of the chicken and rub the skin with butter. Place chicken in crock pot. Squeeze the juice of lemon over chicken and sprinkle with seasonings. cover and let cook on low for 10 hours or high for 6 hours. VOILA!
price for the chicken: 2.39-3.81
Good served with white rice--this adds maybe .20, and a veggie, which adds .45 for me.
TOTAL PRICE OF MEAL: 3.04-4.46
We usually have left over chicken that use for the next meal.
