1 small onion (or half a large onion) .15
1 lb. ground meat (I use turkey) .99
1 can diced tomatoes (I use Rotel with green chiles) .50
1-1 1/2 c water
2-3 TBSP flour
seasonings of choice: I like to add chili powder, cumin, garlic, onion powder, and a little bit of bullion--not too much of any of it if you're using the chiles!! .15
tortillas (I use homemade) .25
total cost: 2.04 + your side
Brown meat and onion together. Drain and rinse. Add tomatoes. In a cup, wisk together the water, flour, and desired seasonings. Add to the hot meat and stir until it thickens. If it isn't thick enough to spoon into tortillas, then add a little more water with some more flour in it.
Eat on tortillas plain, or you can have cheese, sour cream, etc. I like it plain.
I like to serve with fiesta corn with black beans. yummy.
