I had this in the regular forum, but I wanted to put it here too... doesn't get quite so lost here....
I love milkshakes. They're a weakness of mine.
I don't love spending money on them, though... I kind of adapted the hillbillyhousewife recipe to be my own. And it's not very expensive at all, considering I can make a shake for three for a decent price. 'Specially since you don't need ice cream!!! I rarely buy ice cream....but I always have milk.
Here's what I do:
put 2 c milk in a blender (.50)
add as many ice cubes as it takes to fill up the milk space (usually just shy of a whole tray)
add 2 tsp vanilla
add 2 tsp of sugar free vanilla instant pudding mix (.10)
put a spray of cooking spray (you can omit that; I've done it with and w/o)
add 1/3 c of powdered milk (probably not necessary if you use 2% or whole--I use skim, though ). (.20)
add either 6 packets of sugar substitute or a few TBSP of sugar--I use the substitute (.10)
add a dash of salt (a FAST dash--only a tiny tiny bit)
Blend until creamy and smooth.
I like to omit the salt and add a heaping TBSP of cocoa and a TBSP of peanut butter. YUMMY-ER! (adds maybe .10)
total cost: approximately 1.00, plus the little things--vanilla, ice, cooking spray. Not bad for three yummy shakes.
