I would highly recommend investing in a Miracle Blanket. We had been using the Swaddle Me made by Kiddopotomus and sold at BRU, but the lactation consultant let me test drive a Miracle Blanket and I loved it so much I bought one. They are a bit pricey (mine was $30) but I had spent that on the Swaddle Me's that we had, and this one works SOOO much better. My little Houdini can't really wiggle out unless I don't get it on right. With the Swaddle Me's he was always figuring out a way to sneak out. So look it up, and if you plan on swaddling (Elliott won't/can't sleep without being swaddled), I would get ya' one.

Thanks Courtney! My friend got me one for my shower, and it looks great! I want to buy another one. I know that Babies R Us has them online now, and you can usually find them at specialty stores. I think we will go out and get another one now

Thanks so much! I was actually at BRU today looking at the swaddle me's. I bought two, but will most likely return them and invest in a couple of the ones you speak of. Its so handy having wonderful BTDT moms on here to help us out! lol

Thanks, Courtney! I also got a couple of Swadle Me's at my shower. I'll check out the Miracle Blankets. Ditto to Shanna, I love the advice. Thank you! Keep it coming!

I got a couple of swaddle me hand me downs, but now I am thinking I need to get me one of those Miracle ones.... especially if it will give me another hour of sleep at night.

Courtney, how much of a difference does swaddling make?

For Elliott, swaddling is absolutely essential. Even now, he doesn't sleep well without being swaddled. When he was still teeny-tiny, he would sleep okay on me but without the swaddle no sleeping was happening in his bed. It also immediately calmed him down when he was upset and nothing else was working. I know every baby is different (obviously), but I don't know what we would have done without the swaddle.

Courtney, not to hijack your thread or anything as I don't mean any harm, but I did want to say that I would definitely see whether or not swaddling works for your little one before I would invest in a bunch of swaddlers. I only had one swaddler and of course several receiving blankets and Tori hated being swaddled. I may have swaddled her for a few days after being at home but it never worked for her.

I just got one last week. I'd watched the demo online & it looked so easy, but of course when I got it & tried it, it didn't work out. Now it's sitting in a heap in the corner of the room I should start a drive for all of our discarded items!
I'm glad it worked well for you. Maybe I'll give it another go.

For anyone looking to order it, google coupon codes... I got $5 off mine. It came to $28 & change with shipping & handling.

Try again, Melissa. It took a few go's before I got the hang of it, but now it works like a dream!

Ana will only sleep swaddled, but with her arms out!, I use a swaddle me and it works fine. I´ve made some out of muslin squares for when it gets hotter!
