OK so I've had my last shower and here is the list I came up with that I still need to buy. Can I get some opinions on these items? Do I need all of them? Are there some I don't need or can wait on?
**2 more car seat bases (one for our other car and one for MIL car, she will be watching her when I go back to work)
**breast pump
**swing
**bumbo or bumbo tray
**high chair
**humidifier
**mirrors for car so we can see her while we drive
**bottles/liners
**crib pad (we have 2 already, but I think I may need a third)
**boppy slipcovers (I have 1 but think I may need at least one more if not two)
**mobile (we got our bedding but never got the mobile do we need this or not???)
**sleep bra (I have 2 that I got from motherhood maternity but think I might need one more)
**nursing cover
**a few more nursing shirts
**pair of yoga pants or comfy pants for hospital

**2 more car seat bases (one for our other car and one for MIL car, she will be watching her when I go back to work) Probably could wait until you go back to work or when someone else besides you will be taking baby somewhere. Maybe suggest to MIL to buy hers...will save you some $$!
**breast pump I would go ahead and get the pump because you may need to *help* things along to get your supply up in the beginning, especially if baby has latching issues you can still get your supply going while she figures it out.
**swing Yes
**bumbo or bumbo tray Could wait a few months until baby has head control.
**high chair Definately can wait
**humidifier Yes
**mirrors for car so we can see her while we drive Only if you think you will be taking baby out by yourself soon...otherwise it could wait but they aren't expensive so I would probably go ahead. I will probably sit in the backseat with baby on the way home from the hossy.
**bottles/liners Yes...you never know if you won't be able to BF or if you might need to supplement.
**crib pad (we have 2 already, but I think I may need a third) I don't know...I only registered for one!
**boppy slipcovers (I have 1 but think I may need at least one more if not two) Yes...there are bound to be leakage accidents in the beginning!
**mobile (we got our bedding but never got the mobile do we need this or not???) I would say yes...maybe not so much for the visual aspect but for the music at first.
**sleep bra (I have 2 that I got from motherhood maternity but think I might need one more) Depends on how much you leak and how often you might have to wash them! I was thinking 2 or 3 but I think at Motherhood they have them 2/$25.
**nursing cover Yes if you are going out in public soon or want to cover up when you have guests over.
**a few more nursing shirts Yes
**pair of yoga pants or comfy pants for hospital YES!
my 2 cents
**breast pump- recommend getting it- it helped me with engorgement as Zane was a oneside eater at first
**swing- I recommend as well, Zane loves his and gives me a break to go to the bathroom or whatnot.
**bumbo or bumbo tray- can wait, we don't even have one yet and he's almost 4month
**high chair- can wait, we don't have one yet. Won't be getting one till he's 6 months old and getting solids
**humidifier- can wait, we didn't get one till he was 2 months and was pretty congested. (nose drops work well at the beginning and are cheaper )
**mirrors for car so we can see her while we drive- I had one from the get go
**bottles/liners- do you not have any? if not then get some, if so you may be ok for a while, (have a few different styles/nipples just incase she doesn't like it)
**boppy slipcovers (I have 1 but think I may need at least one more if not two)- we have 3 covers, never even used the 3rd, 2 is plenty
**mobile (we got our bedding but never got the mobile do we need this or not???)- we have one, don't use it. i'd recommend a lullaby cd instead, Zane loves his! Great in the car when he's tired and fussy. We got the Parents Lullaby cd from target by the greeting cards.
**sleep bra (I have 2 that I got from motherhood maternity but think I might need one more)- sleep bras are great, but bigger sports bras are even better! they are cheaper. that's all i use. i personally hate nursing bras! too much hassle, easier to just lift up. I have 8 sport bras!
**nursing cover- i'd probably get one, i have a first years black one I'm not using, I have 2 others. if you would like i can/would send it to you!
**2 more car seat bases (one for our other car and one for MIL car, she will be watching her when I go back to work) I would get one for your other car, but hold off on the third for now...I'm sure she will pick one up, and if not, you have time.
**breast pump - for sure! Even to help your milk come in...and for engorgement.
**swing - I have mine already. That is something you might be able to find second hand in really good shape for much cheaper! I got mine second hand and it looks and works like its brand new!
**bumbo or bumbo tray - again something you can hold off on for now. But look for them second hand as well. They're expensive, and so many people are selling theirs once they're done with them.
**high chair - for sure you could wait on this one. You won't be using it for a while. I'm planning on getting mine in about 6 months time.
**humidifier - I guess it depends on the climate. It is so humid here all the time that I doubt we will need one. I say wait and see, because you may not need one right away or at all.
**mirrors for car so we can see her while we drive - we have ours in there already!
**bottles/liners - I say YES! Or you could get bottles that don't use liners. I got a starter pack of Born Free glass bottles that were really highly recommended to me by a friend.
**crib pad (we have 2 already, but I think I may need a third) - I only have the one! I guess maybe I should pick up a second too, but if you're using the bassinet for a while at first, you have time!
**boppy slipcovers (I have 1 but think I may need at least one more if not two) - I say yes to this...maybe one more, so that while one is in the wash you have a second you can slip on.
**mobile (we got our bedding but never ot the mobile do wge need this or not???) We have one, but I doubt we will use it much. I also got some CD's that we have loaded onto an ipod for the nursery...that way it is never quiet in there! lol
**sleep bra (I have 2 that I got from motherhood maternity but think I might need one more) I like Lindsey's idea about sports bras. I have 3 regular nursing bras and two sleepers, but I find snapping them down a pain in the butt...I'm sure just pulling it up is MUCH easier!
**nursing cover - for sure. Not only when you're out in public, but I know I would feel strange whipping one out in from of my grandfather! lol So even for at home when company is over which I'm sure will be often at first!
**a few more nursing shirts - I say sure...but if they're mainly for at home, just pick up some regular shirts and pull it up. Its easier and cheaper!!
**pair of yoga pants or comfy pants for hospital - absolutely! I live in them now even! lol I would get black though...because of blood leakage at first! Same with your granny underwear for postpartum...get them all in black because of staining!

**2 more car seat bases (one for our other car and one for MIL car, she will be watching her when I go back to work) I think you can wait if you are worried about $$, but if you have extra to spend, then it will definitely be good to be prepared.
**breast pump I would at least have a hand pump to give you some relief with engorgement. The big one can wait if you want to see how BF'ing goes. ..
**swing I would make sure you just have something to place her in--be it a bouncy seat, swing, etc.
**bumbo or bumbo tray I don't really like the Bumbo, so we don't have one
**high chair This can wait--we don't even have ours yet and Elliott is 3 1/2 months old.
**humidifier I think for the summer months you can wait, the winter seems to make it more essential.
**mirrors for car so we can see her while we drive helpful, but not essential
**bottles/liners a MUST. You never know what may happen that might require use of a bottle. They will not go to waste even if you BF--when you pump you will need them for feedings!
**crib pad (we have 2 already, but I think I may need a third) I think 2 is sufficient. you can also get lap pads to put on top of the sheets, which will require less changing.
**boppy slipcovers (I have 1 but think I may need at least one more if not two) I know I type this all the time, but I did not find the Boppy all that useful for BF'ing. It is, however, wonderful to sit on PP. I can see how 2 covers would come in handy if you use it to lay baby on or while BF'ing. I use The Hugster pillow for nursing and love it!
**mobile (we got our bedding but never got the mobile do we need this or not???) Elliott LOVES his, and that started about week 6, I think.
**sleep bra (I have 2 that I got from motherhood maternity but think I might need one more) I alternate between two nursing tanks (you can get them relatively inexpensively at Target on-line) and a nursing sleep bra from Motherhood. I wouldn't have 3 less in my rotation, especially at the beginning when you can only wear them one night because of the nightsweats!
**nursing cover ESSENTIAL. I am not coordinated enough to nurse with just a blanket, and I don't always want to retreat to his bedroom to nurse, especially when they are eating all the dang time at the beginning!
**a few more nursing shirts This is what I sleep in, as noted above
**pair of yoga pants or comfy pants for hospital I don't think you have to buy anything super-special--if you have a comfy pair of maternity pants, those will work.
[QUOTE=GMerino;15853179]OK so I've had my last shower and here is the list I came up with that I still need to buy. Can I get some opinions on these items? Do I need all of them? Are there some I don't need or can wait on?
**2 more car seat bases (one for our other car and one for MIL car, she will be watching her when I go back to work) You might want to get the one for your other car.. The one for your MIL's car can wait until you're about ready to go back to work **breast pump I'd get one or at least rent one for the beginning **swing Not completely necessary but you might want to get one. I started putting Siera in hers this week and she's been falling asleep in it every time **bumbo or bumbo tray Don't think it's necessary **high chair You won't need it for the first few months until they start eating solids **humidifier Depends on the climate where you are **mirrors for car so we can see her while we drive BIG YES on this one! I don't have one and it drives me craaaaazy when I'm driving alone with her! I just imagine all the horrible things that can be going on back there where I can't see **bottles/liners YES! **crib pad (we have 2 already, but I think I may need a third) I use receiving blankets as sheet savers - minimizes the changing of the sheets and mattress pad **boppy slipcovers (I have 1 but think I may need at least one more if not two) I had 1 and did just fine.. 2 could be helpful though **mobile (we got our bedding but never got the mobile do we need this or not???) Depends on baby. Siera doesn't care much for hers **pair of yoga pants or comfy pants for hospital Anything comfy works
**2 more car seat bases (one for our other car and one for MIL car, she will be watching her when I go back to work) - we got three in total too, so I would agree you need that many
**breast pump I would wait until you're sure you can BF. I bought mine when Connor was four days old. I knew we had it down at that point.
**swing We don't use ours too often. Connor doesn't seem to like it. He ALWAYS cries, but eventually, it does make him fall asleep. I just don't have the heart to put him in there and let him cry.
**bumbo or bumbo tray My Mom bought me both of these even though I hadn't registered for them. I plan on giving them to my MIL to use in place of a high chair at her house. I haven't used mine yet and don't plan on using it.
**high chair I wanted a very specific wooden high chair, so I bought mine right away. As long as you weren't picky, you could wait on this item for a while.
**humidifier We bought one and haven't used it yet, but I'm sure it's something you'll want on hand just in case.
**mirrors for car so we can see her while we drive we have one, but it's not installed yet. There have been a few times already it would have come in handy.
**bottles/liners I am using Playtex drop ins and I love them. According to our pediatrician, we were to introduce Connor to the bottle at three weeks. Now that he can eat from a bottle, it really comes in handy to be able to feed him expressed milk. We stocked up on drop ins before I realized that Playtex drop in bottles accept both the Gerber and Lanisoh milk freezer bags I use. So once we're out of drop-ins, I can start using the freezer bag right in the bottle.
**crib pad (we have 2 already, but I think I may need a third) I think you mean a waterproof pad. We use these on the changing table, but not in the crib (which for now, is the Pack and Play). We do have a waterproof cover on the crib mattress, under the sheet, though. As far as the cheapie waterproof pads, I only have two, and could definitely use more.
**boppy slipcovers (I have 1 but think I may need at least one more if not two) I don't have any and haven't found I need any. Just lay a blanket over your Boppy. I do this because when you're engorged, milk SPRAYS when baby de-latches!
**mobile (we got our bedding but never got the mobile do we need this or not???) We got ours right away, but Connor doesn't even sleep in his crib at this point.
**sleep bra (I have 2 that I got from motherhood maternity but think I might need one more) I only have two sleep bras, but I do have four daytime bras - two more traditional, underwire, padded style for daily wear, and two sports bra type. That's enough for me. I'd be sure you can nurse before you spend more money.
**nursing cover This is an item I thought I didn't need. WRONG! I love mine. It really comes in handy.
**a few more nursing shirts If you have one or two, I'd wait to buy more until you're sure you can nurse. Those shirts aren't cheap. Also, I've found that I prefer button down shirts to actual nursing shirts.
**pair of yoga pants or comfy pants for hospital Absolutely! These are what I lived in during my hospital stay. I had four pairs of yoga pants on hand anyway because they're what I always wore to work out.

Thank you Tracy (ArkieMomof3) for another beautiful siggy!
Thanks so much for all the advice. It is soooo helpful. A few things, I forgot to mention that we have a humidifier on our heating system for the entire house so do you think I need a seperate one for her room? Just curious. We will probably wait on the bases for a bit but definitely have to buy one for our MIL (she is watching her when I go back to work so it's much needed)! All this advice is soooooo helpful!!! Thanks!

**2 more car seat bases (one for our other car and one for MIL car, she will be watching her when I go back to work) - We never go in any other car, so we have just got one.
**breast pump. I have a hand held one, and have used it twice, Ana is just a good eater. I hope to use it when shes a bit bigger.
**swing. We havenŽt got one, we have a bouncy/rocking chair and I use it a lot.
**bumbo or bumbo tray. I havenŽt got one, and I dont plan on getting one either, her little chair is multiposition so weŽll use that.
**high chair. The highchair we are getting is from 4 months, so I will wait for an offer and get it then,
**humidifier. I dont plan on getting one, weŽll see if she gets lots of colds before we finally decide.
**mirrors for car so we can see her while we drive. I MUST get one, I feel awful when she starts to cry and I dont know if its because her dummy has fallen out or if her head has fallen forwards.
**bottles/liners. I have got 6 bottles that go with my breast pump and steriliser, but IŽve only ever used one for her gas medicine!. Not sure that you can even buy liners here!
**crib pad (we have 2 already, but I think I may need a third) I havent got one yet, but my nephew is coming to stay next week so i will have to have one or two by then.
**boppy slipcovers. I dont have a boppy, she is such a good feeder she sits uprightish on my thigh and feeds like that. I just use a normal pillow for playing.
**mobile (we got our bedding but never got the mobile do we need this or not???) I have one and I lie Ana in her big cot whilst I shower, IŽve done it since she was 2 days old and I get 10 minutes to organise myself/make the bed/shower etc. Its great. But mine is really bright colours and twirls around.
**sleep bra (I have 2 that I got from motherhood maternity but think I might need one more) I only have two sleep bras, they are really comfy, and 2 daytime bras. (dont worry about the washing, youŽll have at least 1 load every day!)
**nursing cover. Havent got one, I just use a blanket or lie her in front of my stomach and she covers me. Luckily my family and IL are very child friendly and its seen as normal to feed your newborn even at the table (I use a blanket) but it takes away all the stress and worrying if you know you can feed baby at any time.
**a few more nursing shirts. I have one, but the drop down flap bit gets in her mouth and she cant latch on right. I am just using my pre pg tops.
**pair of yoga pants or comfy pants for hospital I had to wear the hospital gowns!!, and then at home just wore my pjs or loose cotton trousers. I wore my maternity trousers from 3 days on.
IŽm not much help as we havent bought hardly anything for our baby, I am buying things when I need them, hopefully this way I wont end up with lots of stuff IŽve never used.
**2 more car seat bases (one for our other car and one for MIL car, she will be watching her when I go back to work)
**breast pump: I would wait & make sure you're able to BF. I bought one & wasn't able to BF. I was only able to keep up with pumping for 2-3 weeks. So now it's collecting dust & I may never use it again. I wish I had waited, but that was my situation, not everyone's. Perhaps you could rent one from the hosp until you know for sure you'll need it.
**swing: personally, I would get this now or you could wait & take baby with you to store to try them out with her in it so you get a better idea. Allie didn't like her's until she was more than a month old though
**bumbo or bumbo tray: this can wait. Allie didn't start using her's until just this week (7-8 wks old) & even that is still a little young
**high chair: can definitely wait. I don't think they use one for at least 4 months. Our's is just stored in a corner, still in the box
**humidifier: necessity, IMO
**mirrors for car so we can see her while we drive: I got one & still haven't put it in! nice to have, but not essential.
**bottles/liners: glad I had mine since I wasn't able to BF. I used them right away for formula & expressed bm
**crib pad (we have 2 already, but I think I may need a third) we still haven't put crib together as she's still in bassinett (or, more likely, in our bed). so if you're using bassinette, you should be fine
**boppy slipcovers (I have 1 but think I may need at least one more if not two): we only have 1, but 2 would be a good back up
**mobile (we got our bedding but never got the mobile do we need this or not???): if you won't be putting her in crib right away, this could wait. also she probably won't start *really* noticing it till about 6-7 weeks old
**sleep bra (I have 2 that I got from motherhood maternity but think I might need one more): I had one & that was enough for me, but I also wasn't able to BF (I just used it as support for my heavy boobs
**nursing cover: unless you plan on going right out with the baby, I think this could wait
**a few more nursing shirts: wouldn't say these are a necessity & you can buy as you need
**pair of yoga pants or comfy pants for hospital: a definite!
