Has anyone gotten massages during their pregnancy.

My DH is planning on taking me for one and I am not showing yet and it doesn`t bother me to be on my stomach, so I am just wondering if it would be ok

I haven't gotten one yet, but I plan on getting one. The only thing is I'd make sure that the massage therapist is certified in prenatal massage I've heard that pre-natal massages can be wonderful for mommies-to-be to help reduce stress, anxiety, relax muscles, etc.

Good luck and have fun!

I'm not sure about being on your stomach. If you're not "protruding" there yet it's probably okay, but I would check with your doctor.

I was wondering about this too... I read something about the oils they use but I can't remember exactly what it said. Usually they offer some kind of prenatal massage so maybe you could try that!

yah when my DH calls them I told him to ask me about me being pregnant and if they do any prenatal massages there. We have a gift certificate that is why we have to go to a certain place.

Thanks for all the responses!!

I *think* you're supposed to wait until the second trimester and they should know how to do prenatal massages - there are a lot of points that can cause contractions.

I had a prenatal massage done, it was a birthday gift, never was on my tummy just sides. I was 27 weeks. It was awesome! I so recommend one if you can get one.

My doc said to wait until you are in your 2nd trimester for a massage. You're close so you only have to wait a few more weeks! I've been dying to get one done and I just got a gift certificate for a prenatal one yesterday (woo hoo!!) can't wait to book that one!

Ditto to the girls who said you need to wait until your second trimester. I would only go to a place that is certified to give prenatal massages. Some places even want permission from your doctor.

Yeah we are going to wait until after my next doctors appointment (June 18) to book them, the place we go does have a pregnancy massage, but it also states that it is only after the second trimester, so I am going to see how far I am measuring when I go in to make sure I am in my second trimester!!

thanks for all the help ladies
