I deleted the site that I had favorited... but you can google it. Also... What to Expect When You're Expecting is a VERY helpful book to have on hand.

Basically moderation is key. People will tell you you can't eat this or that but most things as long as you don't eat a ton of it you will be fine. Probably anything your mom says not to do is an old wives tale!

As far as OTC medicines, tylenol for pain is about it. No ibuprophen or aleve. Tums are great for instant releif of hearburn (I have a bottle in my purse, by my bed, and in my medicine cabinet!). For constipation you can take milk of magnesia or colace stool softeners. No laxatives. You can take claritin for allergies if you have them (I have taken one every day of this pregnancy or I will be a mess!!)

As far as foods...you can have splenda as a sweetener and sweet&low (in moderation), you can have some caffeine (I cut it out completely though just out of fear and because I didn't drink much of it anyway), obviously avoid alcohol although a glass of wine now and then is fine, if you eat tuna limit it to one can a week and avoid other large fish as well. No raw fish as in sushi. Some soft cheeses you are supposed to avoid as well but I can't remember what they are as I don't really eat exotic cheeses anyway! If you eat luchmeat just microwave it until it steams.

Avoid face soaps with benzoil peroxide and salicylic acid

I am sure these will all be discussed in your DDC too...people will be freaking out about splenda and sweeteners and lunchmeat, hair dying, etc. Just remember moderation is key and you will be fine.

Id dont know any websites specifically but beware google is also your worst nightmare as well as your best friend. LOL.

Theres the whole not eating soft cheeses thing because of i think its listeria? Umm deli meats or making sure they are HOT before eating.

Do you do any sports? I was told to avoid sports/activities with quick rapid movements etc like squash horseriding good thing i didnt do any of those anyway. Running is still ok as long as your comfortable with it but dont start any new excercises.

Everyone has already given great advice. I've also found that many doctors are very different. I got a cold in my 1st trimester and was told I couldn't take anything while another friend was told she could take mucinex. So I've found to listen to my doctor only!! Make a list of questions for your first appointment (otherwise you will get in there and completely forget everything you wanted to ask). I think the moderation is the best advice ever!

Thanks ladies! That is good advice...my friend who has a 1 1/2 yr old was telling me yesterday that she had starbucks everyday of her pregnancy and that her baby is fine. Im like well im not gonna do that...In the last month since starting my IVF I have had in total maybe 3 1/2 cups of coffee.

Yesterday the day was dragging and I was falling asleep at like 3pm so I made coffee, but after like half a cup I didnt want it anymore. I just listend to my body.

Last night was the first night that I felt a lil yucky. I had to go to fedex to ship something and I was running late so I hurried in and out fast, when i got back into my car i felt gaggy. So when I got home my stomach still felt a bit acidy and I didnt know what to eat! So I had 2 wheat thin crackers and I felt fine like in 5 mintues.

Oh that was the worst symptom! Being hungry and not knowing what you want to eat! Definately keep something in your stomach when you get that way. Even though nothing sounds good and the thought of eating makes you nauseous...it is better when there is something in there!

Everyone has given you great advice. The only thing that I would add that I didn't know about well into my pregnancy is too stay away from green tea. Luckily I never had any anyway, but that was just out of luck because normally I do. It has been shown to cause birth defects. But I also agree with Gwen. Rely on your doctor and ask him/her as many questions as you can think of. Once you have your first appt they'll probably give you a boat load of information to take home. I never understood why they don't give it to you as soon as you are confirmed to be pg, though!

Thanks Hollie and april...

O I didnt know about the green tea..I would be safe anyway b/c I dont like that to begin with. My first appt. will be with my RE since they have to confirm i have a "viable" pregnancy before releasing me to my OBGYN.

I know I will ask them 20 questions!

honestly I feel like nothing is in me! I am so scared to get excited and it feels super surreal! But If I could guess I would only say 1, i think if there were 2 my tests would be a bit lighter...all my friends keep saying 2

One of them since the day of transfer says "watch there will be two" so we shall see!

Ask all the questions you want! I'm so happy for you!

I hate the "I'm hungry but nothing sounds good" feeling. It's really bad when you feel nauseous too. Of course, there are times when everything sounds good and then I can't decide what to eat - that's a problem too but thankfully it doesn't happen often.

When I first found out I was pregnant it felt very surreal for me too, I didn't have morning sickness until I was 6 weeks, 4 days and it was weird to think there was a baby inside me. After seeing it on the u/s it became so much more real for me.

When will you get your first u/s? Good luck!!!

I don't feel like there's anything going on inside me either!

I know my Dr gave me a list of things that were and weren't okay to eat. And they will be different from Dr to Dr. Like April says Splenda is okay in moderation, mine said not to have any. Some things I just choose not to stress about! I had a bologna sandwich yesterday and I'm not going to worry lol

Jessy I suggest you ask your OB what they want you to do. I did everything by the book when preggo with the girls (and you can drink coffee/coke LOL I had coke and chocolate everyday, still am! I think it says you can have up to 8 cans a day ... not that I did). Anyway I'm not strictly following the rules this time. Only things I'm watching are that my meat is all well done and that I don't eat soft cheeses. My High Risk OB has said that I can have any meds that I want, can even have ibuprofen right up until the last 6 weeks. He said I'm better off doing whatever it takes for me to feel good then worry about any of that coz if I feel like crap then its not going to help the baby.
