So.. I'm kinda freaking out.... I had my HCG levels redrawn to make sure they were still going up properly...

Well my doubling time between the first draw and my last draw was 49 hours - so that was fine.... but the doubling time between these last two draws is 120 hours... :0( is that OK for how far along I am now? I'm freaking out about it.

I've read conflicting info -- some sites say that in week 6-7 it should double every 3 days to every 3.5 days... then other sites say that once the level is over 6000 it's normal to double every 96 hours or more..

ahhh.

So..

9dp5dt - 171
12dp5dt - 704
23dp5dt - 27581
26dp5dt - 41011

I'm so scared.

April, all I know is my RE would only do 2 draws at 14 and 16 dpo b/c after that point the numbers become unreliable when it comes to predicting the health of the baby. The doubling time is usually much longer after that point and variable like you mentioned. So I would try to not worry. You have an ultrasound soon, I hope that eases your mind

I'm sure there's lots of conflicting info, but I do know that the doubling time does slow down after a point (I just don't know exactly what that point is, or if "they" even can pinpoint that time). Hope your u/s comes quick for you! I know how it is to worry for sure.

When I was looking online, I found all sorts of conflicting information. Your best bet, seriously, is to step away from google. I am sure that everything is just fine, but I can also understand why you are so worried. It took me a long time to feel comfortable that everything would be ok.

I hope that you'll be able to relax a little bit but it's completely understandable if you can't. Try not to think too much about it and definitely step away from google! I'll make sure to say lots of prayers for you though I have a really good feeling everything will be just fine!

April...you are as bad as I am. I would not go on the computer to look up anything anymore. Wait until Friday and find at the real concrete truth. Beta numbers can be very unreliable. You will be in my T&P.

I've done alot of research on that in the last week and I think that your numbers look great based on what I have read.

I read some studies that stated after 6000 the number can take up to 96 + hours to multiply. I also read that beta levels are unreliable after 20000 when it comes to multiplying and the health of the baby. I know that you are terrified and I'm praying that you have a good response on the sono on Friday. If you are going crazy with worry call your Dr and ask him if he thinks that it is an appropriate rise in the levels.

April I just wanted to say Good Luck. IA with the other poster that said to step away from google for right now, alot of the information on there is conflicting. Everyone's numbers and doubling times are going to be differant so I don't want you to freak out if yours aren't with in someone else's range. Also keep in mind. after you reach 20,000 the doubling time slows drastically and they even out. I know the First trimester is the scariest. Try to not google anything till your ultrasound. Good Luck hun, I'll be thinking about you. Oh one more thing RE's usually don't do betas that far along so who know's what most people's numbers really are at that point. I only had two done and that was it! I kinda wanted more but they told me they didn't matter anymore that the first 2 or 3 is what really counts.

I don't think I ever got a beta drawn that late but I have heard that it levels off after a while. Don't worry and good luck on Friday!! You will feel so much better after seeing it!

Thanks everyone -- My Doctor ordered the HCG levels last week because of the pain I was having - I guess she wanted to see if they were still really high..

My IVF Nurse called me this morning to tell me the numbers (I got them straight from the lab) - I asked her if it was normal and she said absolutely - that it was still a significant increase and (as all of you said) they can't double forever and eventually slow down.

So that made me feel tons better - I'm still anxious - but I think I'll be like this until I make it past week 10 (when I found out about my missed m/c). *deep breaths*

I'm so glad you got a little reassurance. Pregnancy can be so anxiety producing!

I'm so glad you were able to speak to your doctor about this. The anxiety is totally normal. I was a nervous wreck through my betas too. I still think you're having twins I can't wait to find out for real on Friday.
