I've been spotting off and on since Sunday. I thought it would be gone by now so i'm worried. It's mostly a brown color but has a tint of red too. It's not too much, just comes and goes. But i've had to wear a liner everyday so far. My temps are still high and looking good. I took a IC test this morning and it's darker than before so that seems like a positive thing. I'm just nervous about this spotting and really hope my little bean is okay!

Did any of you have spotting in early pregancy that sounds at all like this? I'm hoping someone will tell me that they did and everything will be okay. I'm making a doctor appointment today to make sure but i would really like to hear what you think.

Krista- I didn't persoanlly have any spotting, but TONS and TONS of girls here and in my DDC and girls I know IRL did. It's very common. I'd say it's a good sign if it's brown and if it's not accompanied by any heavy cramping. Try to relax!!!! Spotting is SO normal. I know you are going to worry, because the first 12 weeks are SOOO nerve wracking!! I will be praying for you and your little bean. I'm sure your dr's appt will give you some relief!!

Send a message via ICQ to BabyBird
I had spotting at 6w this time for two days and had an u/s while it was happening and all was fine with the baby. Ironically with my losses I never had spotting. They couldn't tell where the blood was coming from so it was probably my cervix. Have you DTD recently? That will cause you to spot. It can also be totally normal to spot in the first trimester. I know it is scary though. Implantation takes the whole first 12 weeks for the placenta to grow and burrow in so that could cause it. Take it easy and if it gets worse call your Dr but brown spotting is a good sign.

As the others have said, spotting can be very normal but scary at the same time. Are you cramping at all with the spotting? Just to be safe, I would just call your doc.

You girls make me feel so much better. I've talked to other people about it who have said "call your doctor right away" You could see why that would freak me out. I'm not cramping although i have had some dull pains really low on my right side for the past couple days but assumed it was normal pregnancy pains. I haven't DTD since we found out because i know it's not recommended if you're spotting. I had no idea implantation takes the whole 12 weeks! That makes me feel much better. I'll be calling the doctor in a bit and hope my appt just gives me some relief.

Oh believe me Krista, I know how nerve wracking spotting can be! I didn't have any right away, but about 5 or 6 weeks I had some brown spotting that turned to red...lots of red. It didn't last long, but a lot came out at once...I thought for sure I was out. They couldn't tell me why I spotted...I think I probably spotted for about 4 weeks after that...mostly brown, but the occasional red. It really is normal sometimes. However, you should always always call your doctor if you see red blood just in case! Chin up! I know it's hard and stressful, but there is absolutely nothing you can do but try to relax...impossible I know!

I havent spotted yet either, but my IVF nurses keep telling me that if its pinkish or brown spotting that its completely normal. That if it looks bright red and is like a period, then to go in.

I do think it is normal for you to spot off and on. Just call yoru doctor for your own reassurance. Good Luck!!

I had spotting, too. It's very scary, but if you're not cramping and it's just light and brown, you're most likely fine. But like the others said, if you need reassurance don't hesitate to call your Dr. I have called mine so many times over this pregnancy and they never make me feel silly for calling and have always made me feel better.

Andrea you have no idea how much your story helped. Makes me feel much more relieved. I just called and have an appointment on Tuesday. Hopefully the spotting will have stopped by then. They're going to have a nurse call me today and talk to me about it so that will be good.

I didn't have spotting either but I had mild cramping for several weeks after I got my BFP. The first few weeks can be very stressful, but try to relax. I hope talking to the nurse will help set your mind at ease. Like Erin said tons of girls in my DDC had spotting and are doing well now and in their second trimester.

I'm sending tons of good luck wishes your way!

Well talking to the nurse did NOT help me feel better. She told me to go to the ER. I'm trying to find a less expensive way to get checked today.

Why would she tell you to go to the ER instead of to their office? Is there another OBGYN you can call?

Oh sweetie! I agree, be seen today just in case, but I just posted this in the DDC club for you: the APA's website said most women with spotting have healthy pregnancies. I am trying to find the link for you, but for the life of me, I have lost it!

Pregnancy FAQ: American Pregnancy Association
here it is

I'd call and ask if they would see you. If not, I'd take their advice and go to the ER if that's feasible. It's likely and hopefully NOT an emergency, but they don't want to take any chances I'm sure. Try not to stress too much!!!!!!

Im sorry you are feeling worried. I hope everything is ok. I know them saying "go to the ER" sounds scary, but it might make you feel better. They will do your bw, check you to make sure your cervix is closed and probably do an u/s, which they may or may not see anything on since you are early. This is what they did for me when I went in. Hang in there, im sure your LO is just getting comfy for the next nine months. HUGS

I'm so sorry you are scared right now (the first trimester is SCARY!). I think the other ladies said it best, as long as it is brown, pink, even red but not accompanied by painful cramps, you should be okay. Oh, and the pain on the low side, yeah, I had that pretty bad too. It was the ovary where I ovulated from that had a cyst... it's pretty common. Plus, you're going to get all kind of weird aches and pains, starting now, throughout the pregnancy.

I hope they can get you into the doctors office rather than going to the ER (they won't be able to see anything except uterine thickening at this point because you're very early in pregnancy and you'll end up sitting there for hours getting stressed out). Try asking for your betas to get checked. As long as they are doubling over 48-72 hours, you should be okay.

Hugs! Please keep us updated. You and your bean are in my thoughts and prayers.

Let us know how things go. And just so you know, I had to go to the ER for my spotting (although I don't know I would necessarily consider what I saw as spotting) and everything turned out to be fine. I know that was the case for a couple of the other girls on this board, too. Sending you lots of Ts and Ps!!
