I have been having lower back pain, more so on the right side, and I am four weeks along.

I called my doctor to ask about it, because it is not going away, and they want me to come in this afternoon.

Did any of you have this?

I did and do have some minor back pain, but nothing that bothered me too much. How severe is the pain?

Sometimes its really dull, and sometimes a little more painful.

I called the doctor to see what she wanted me to do. Her nurse said she is on vacation but that I should be seen today, so I have an appointment with another doctor at 4:30, a million hours away it feels like.

My advice is DON'T Google Google can be a pregnant women's best friend or worst nightmare especially in the early weeks. I've noticed that being pregnant, I am FAR more in tuned with my body and the different little aches and pains that I may have ignored before seem intensified now (probably because I'm far more concerned!). But just try to relax! I'm sure everything is fine! The baby is growing at RAPID speed right now. Things are stretching and pulling and making room for the baby's home for the next 8 months! KUP!

I am totally more in tune! I am noticing EVERY little twinge, pain, pull, stab, gas bubble (sorry, its one of my symptoms, lol) and getting worried. So thats normal then, to be so aware?

I am going to ask the doctor, after he says he thinks its all fine, what are the main red flags I should be aware of in this month, so I can ignore everything else. My pregnany book is so vague on things.

I agree with Erin, google can be your worst nightmare!!! She's right though, your baby is growing at a very rapid speed so your body is going to be going through a ton of changes in the coming months. I agree though, ask your doc what you should look for and Try (and I say try because I know how hard it is) to ignore the rest!!!

Thanks guys! It doesn't help that I have ocd with hypochondria tendencies, lol. I took a hot shower, and it helped the pain. I am still going in to be sure, but I will try to only worry about what he says!

I did have pain in my lower back on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday - it was very uncomfortable but it's completely gone now -- I even took another test -- and my line is much darker -- almost as dark as the control like - so I'm sure the pain was just baby getting snug. It sort of felt like a pinched nerve...I did call the nurse and she said it was completely normal - to just drink lots of water and call if I started spotting red or if the pain became a lot worse. I'm sure you are completely fine...I'm glad you are going to the doc for reassurance....and will keep you in my thoughts and prayers...Keep us posted!!!

I had SUCH bad back pain early on. OMG! It was terrible. Eventually it went away but just try to take it easy. My midwife said that there are hormones in your body that get elevated once you become pregnant that end up relaxing some of your muscles, so back pain early on is common.

It's pretty common to have lower back pain in early pregnancy (and late pregnancy from what I have been told). A bunch of ladies of my DDC had also mentioned sciatic pain in the early weeks of pregnancy. I hope you get some answers and relief when you go to the doctor.

I'd say not to worry unless you're in terrible pain (in any part of your body) or you're having severe cramping or bleeding. Any other monor aches and pains are probably totally normal !

I went in. The doctor didn't know too much about it, he is going to have his nurse make me an appointment with the ob/gyn. He did do an external pelvic exam where he pushed down on my abdomen with his fingers. I was tender on the right side, and across the lowest part of my abdomen. Is it normal to be tender there? I asked him and he said he didn't think it meant anything bad because I do not have bleeding, but wasn't sure if it was normal.

From now till you deliver I would recommend contacting your OB first. If they don't think it's pregnancy related they'll recommend you to your primary but I would definately call them first.

I would wait to see what the OB says, but I think it seems normal that your abdomen might be tender. Your uterus is growing and there are a lot of changes going on right now that your body is trying to adjust to. Hang in there and KUP!
