Ok so I have had a few contrax this am...nothing regular and not really painful but strong to where I felt like I had to hold my breath. But what I am worried about is that I feel constantly tight. Like my whole belly...not just down low like AF cramping like I am used to. My whole belly feels tight like I just did a bunch of situps and it won't relax. Should I be concerned? I am at work until 7p so I don't want to have to leave for no reason but I will if I need to. What do you girls think??

Edited to add:
I have been drinking water but I have also been on my feet a lot. I don't have much to do until 4p so I am going to try to stay seated as much as possible but I am not sure if I should call the OB or not?!

I don't remember having them when I was pregnant, but what you're describing sounds like what others in my PR described as BHs. Sounds like your uterus is practicing for the main event and as long as they're not painful or regular, I think you should be OK. Definitely call your OB if you're concerned though.

To me it definitely sounds like BH. From about the time you are at until now usually in the evenings my entire belly is rock hard!!! Sometimes it lasts for quite a while too. Mine usually didn't hurt but weren't exactly comfortable. When I checked around some people said that BH hurt and some didn't. But I would always call your doc just to be sure.

Ohhh, right! I totally forgot about BH. I haven't really had them much so I forget about them, but I bet Gwen and Lindsey are right.

Thanks girls. Everyone I have asked has said the same thing! I feel better now. They don't come and go which was weird...I didn't know BH would be constant. That seems to be the consensus though so I will hold off on calling for now. I did drink a bunch of water and that seemed to help some.

I had that feeling when I was on my feet too long. Uncomfy! I am glad you are feeling a bit more comforted after asking around. Try to put your feet up when you are home!

I think the other girls already answered your question. I just wanted to say that I totally didn't know what they were when I first started having them either. I had to ask my doula.

When I had them I didn't even realize it!! One night at birthing class the Lactaction COnsultant was discussing BHs and went around feeling the bellies, and she felt mine and said "you're having one right now" (she could tell cause my belly was all tight/hard)

I feel much better today! Every time I would sit down yesterday they would ease up but as soon as I had to go take care of a patient (can't they let a preggo rest! LOL) and walk around they would come back. The walk out to my car after work was the worst! But they are gone now and I guess now I know what real BH are!
