Failed 1 hour glucose test

I took my 1 hour test on Wednesday. Didn't hear back from my doctors office, so I was thinking I may have passed. I was spilling sugars into my urine 3 weeks ago when I was really sick, so I didn't expect to pass, but thought maybe that was just because I was so sick.

My doctor is in her office today going over things and noticed no one had called me, so she called. 140 is passing and I got 149. I have to go in tomorrow morning and do the 3 hour test. She said that I should probably carbo load a bit today so I can sort of coat my receptors so they don't get shocked by the sugar drink tomorrow. She thinks I may have failed because I'm not used to eating or drinking much sugar. I rarely eat simple carbs, so my body may have just reacted poorly to the sugar overload. Hopefully that's all it is as I really don't need one more thing to deal with.

OH NO, that sucks. I'm sorry Cel. You are right, you don't need anything else to deal with right now. I hope it all works out. I do know a ton of other women who failed the 1 hour test and then passed the 3 hour test with no problem. I hope that's it for your case. Actually I think Hollie (Northeastwifey) failed her 1 hour and passed the 3 hour. Hang in there!!!

That isn't the best news...but I know of SO MANY women who have failed the one hour test to go on and pass the three hour test. I really hope you are another one of those women who come out with great results.

Good luck on the three hour! You were so close, I think you'll be fine. Crazy to think that because you avoid the simple sugars (like you should, right?) it can cause it to have that affect.

It means I could potentially have gestational diabetes, which is more common in a multiple pregnancy. Depending on the severity of the GD, it would be controlled by diet or insulin. Hopefully I don't have to deal with either. I doubt I'd need insulin since I was so close to passing the one hour.

On a side note...I think not eating from 8:00 pm until I finish the test around 11:00 am is going to kill me

I don't remember the last time I went that long without food.

Yuck! Sorry you have to take the 3 hr test. I hear it's a pain! I was one point away from failing... I was very thankful for that one point! lol. Let us know how it goes! I hope you pass it!

I am sure you will pass Cel! You didn't fail it that bad! I failed by 6 points and I passed with flying colors! Just remember, you have to fail 2 out of the 4 draws to fail the test!

Good luck not eating today! Just keep yourself busy and you should be fine!

Thanks everyone. I hope to get the results tomorrow. Thankfully I wasn't spilling glucose into my urine this morning like I was 3 weeks ago. I really think that was because I was so sick and had so many things going on. I didn't have any in my urine last week either

I came home and ate. I'm still hungry, but only have room for a little food at a time. I drank my glucola stuff and then had to do my non stress test. It took the nurse 15 minutes to get good reads on the girls hearts because they were so super charged. She had to stay in the room with me another 15 minutes to keep track of hte hearts since they moved so much. I rarely eat refined sugar, so the girls didn't know what to do with the amount they got hit with this morning.
