I've learned recently that a blighted ovum is also a possiblity of what i might be experiencing. Doing an u/s and seeing a baby or fetal pole as they call it would rule that out but here's what i'm wondering... If i get an u/s tomorrow at 5 weeks 6 days will i be far enough along to see a fetal pole? I read that it could take as long as 6-7 weeks for one to appear on an u/s, so i'm wondering if there's a chance it wouldn't see one and i'd just be worried anyway. Is it too early?

It might be a few days to early, so if you get an u/s and dont see something that could most definatly be why, BUT most people can see a heartbeat around 6 weeks and thats about what you will be.

Everyone is different. This early on just 1 day could make all the difference. I had an u/s at 5W 6D and we saw the heartbeat, but the tech said that was probably the very first day we would have been able to see it. So, if I would have gone in just 1 day before we wouldn't have been able to see it. Like I said, everyone is different. A lot of the time a heartbeat won't be found until 7 weeks. Wishing you all the best.

We saw the heartbeat at 5w 6 days, but not everyone can. Good luck! I've been thinking about you. Though I don't post much lately, I read almost everyday.

You might be able to see something, but dont get discouraged just yet if you dont see the fetal pole. My first ultrasound was at 6w6d and I got to see and hear the HB.

I would think that even if you couldn't see the heartbeat you'd be able to see something! I had my first at 8 weeks so I'm not much help. Just wanted to give you my support and say that I'm anxiously waiting to hear how your u/s went. hugs!!

I had a BO and at 8w we only saw a teeeeny tiny yolk sac and the gest. sac measured 5.5 weeks and no fetal pole. I think that if you see a pole everything is fine. I know some girls here who have had early u/s and didnt' see a HB but did see a fetal pole at 5-6w turned out to be just fine. Good luck tomorrow...what time is your appt???

at 5w3d I saw a yolk sac and what looked like beg of fetal pole but dr couldn't be sure- we then saw h/b at 6w1d......don't worry though if you don't see it just yet-it may still be to early and everyone is different!!!

I had an emergency U/S at 6 weeks even according to the tech, (5wks 5 days according to FF), and we saw and heard the HB. They tried first with an abdominal U/S and couldnt see anything more than the sack, then with the dildo-cam it was really obvious. Good Luck and I hope you finally get some answers!!

Like the other girls said don't freak out if you don't see much, it's still early. Good luck tomorrow Krista! Sending tons of good luck vibes your way.
