UGH!! I did NOT like this doctor! She wasn't very friendly and seemed very blunt and like she didn't even care. I had to hold back tears when i left the appointment, and not just because of the bad news. And there was bad news. She looked at my betas and told me it definitely looked like i'd m/c based on them. She said technically nothing's impossible but she acted like there was really no doubt in her mind. Right off the bat she pretty much told me there's no way this pregnancy could end with a baby in nine months. I don't mind hearing her or any other doctor's opinions, but to say it the way she did just seemed cruel.
She felt my cervix and said it was closed which in her opinion told us nothing since she said it would be open if my body was about to miscarry. Okay? I already knew that but she obviously didn't think it was a good sign either? She felt around and said she really doesn't think it's ectopic. There's the one positive thing from this appt. i guess. We didn't do an u/s because she told me my betas are too low to show anything.
They did take my blood again and are doing yet another set of betas. I won't hear back until tomorrow on the results though. That made me sad that i have to wait so long. Also i'm not 100% sure about my blood type but my mom seems sure i'm O negative. The doctor said if i am i should've got a shot because if DH is positive my body could reject the baby. I know i've heard of this in the past. I wonder if this is what's happening?? She did a test to see for sure what blood type i am and i will be getting a shot if it's negative. I guess that seems kinda productive?
I just feel like i left with no answers again. After i mentioned the chance of it being a blighted ovum she agreed with me. She said my body should m/c within the next 1 or 2 weeks but i don't know how much i believe that until i see it. I refuse to get anything like a D&C done until i know for sure that there's no baby inside of me, no matter how certain she seemed.
I'm hoping this set of betas goes either way up or down so i can know for sure. I hate it just barely going up because it keeps us guessing and the waiting game just continues. So that's all of it. Anyone else confused?
Sorry this is so long BTW!

Wow, what a ride you are on!!! Hopefully tomorrow will shed SOME light on your little bean. I am so sorry, again, that you are having to go through ALL of this! On the positive side, at least you know its not ecotopic. I wish I had some more comforting words....

I'm not exactly sure...I know it has to do with your blood cells...and if your baby is opposite of you, then your body could create antibodies against your baby. (basically treat it like a foreign substance in your body) Mind you, from what the girls say, it's not coman that they give it to you this early...I guess probably you will get it for the same reason as me...because you were spotting, and there could be a transfer of fluids...it usually isn't something they are concerned with, with your first pregnancy I believe. (Don't quote me on that, I just basically know I'm RH - and that could be bad for the baby so I got the shot!)

That makes sense Marci. I've heard that too and am pretty sure you are correct in your statements. I was just making sure it was the same thing i was thinking of.

Krista, I am so sorry your doctor was such a whacko. I wish they could be more understanding and sympathetic. You would think they would. I am still confused and I certainly know the waiting part is the WORST. I still am hoping for the best!! Hopefully you get the answers you need SOON. I am thinking of you!

They checked me for RH too on Thursday and told me it was because i was spotting that they did it... dh is O- though so they said i didnt need to get the shot.
Just like i told Marci i'm so sorry that we're all going through these troubles... the emotional roller coasters we've been on have been insane lately! I'm sorry that things arent looking good for your little one, i would be so frustrated at this point with not getting your answers. I can't believe they're making you wait yet again for results i had mine within two hours on Saturday! Thts just insane to make you wait they did mine Stat (maybe IF you need more tests again to ask for that?)
And i feel you guys on the pin cusion thing if you read my post on the main board i've been stuck 7 times since Thursday and i have to go back tomorrow!

Yea Sam this is the 5th time i've been stuck with needles and i wouldn't be surprised if it's not the last. I've always got my results back with 2 hours also so this stinks but i'm just trying to be patient and will try to stay pre-occupied.

Ugh, what a nasty sounding doctor! You poor thing. I'm so sorry you haven't been able to get any real answers and that you keep having to wait. I wish you the best with your next set of betas. You and your bean are in my thoughts and prayers.

I'm sorry Krista, especially about the rude doc. Hope you get answers asap! I'm O- and DH is O+ and I waived the Rh shot during pregnancy but did have the rhogam shot after DS was born and everything was fine.

Krista, I'm so sorry you STILL don't have answers, and had to deal with such an uncaring doctor. Did she actually tell you what your newest beta number was, or just that it wasn't as high as it should be? Or was she just basing it off the LAST time you had blood drawn?? I'm hoping that number finally starts to shoot up so you can prove all these doctors wrong!!

I'm so sorry Krista. The doctor sounds very cruel and hopefully you never have to go back to her again. She could at least have been smpathetic to what you are going through. Sorry the answers were not what we were hoping for. I hope by tomorrow you will finally know for sure.

I am so mad at your doctor. I think they see this stuff so often they get hardened to it, and its hurtful. I am sorry you did not get good news at your appointment, honey.

Don't worry about not getting the Rhogam shot yet. IF you are going to m/c you will need it but as long as you get it within 2 days of bleeding you are fine. Also they give it to be cautious but with early losses it is unlikely that the baby ever made any blood cells anyway so there wouldn't be any to mix. Not having the shot up to this point is NOT what would cause you to m/c. It doens't affect this baby but future babies could be affected if your RH- blood mixed with RH+ blood. I am A- and I got the shot after each of my losses and just got it with this pregnancy at 28w and will have it again after baby is born. Hope that clarifies some of the RH stuff but I am also sorry you didn't get any answers today. KUP on your beta results.

I'm so sorry your appt didn't go better. I'm saddened to hear your doctor was a jerk and didn't want to do an u/s. Seems to me she could have been a little bit more optimistic and at least TRIED the u/s - who knows maybe it would have given you some answers TODAY. Geesh! I'm so frustrated for you. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that your numbers go up enough to give you hope. I just want to poke your doctor in the eye right now! Argh!
Good luck!!!!
