So I have a major decision to make. I currently have United Healthcare. My plan that I had was for my husband and I and it went up a lot! It went from 621 that I currently pay to 780 if I want to keep it.
Now with my husband business being very slow and bad right now that type of hike I cant take it. So we were trying to decide to see just to have myself covered only since I am pregnant. So I got my new price for just my coverage and it goes down to 545. Now here is my dilema. Down in south florida there is another healthcare provider that is a sister company of United, but they are only in the State of Florida. Technically my benefits are only provided in 3 counties around me. So if I leave out of the county then I would only be covered if it was an acutal emergency. But if I would leave the state of florida then I am not covered. vs with United I am covered in all 50 states.
Now the price of that plan that is only in the S. Florida area, is 359. So you can see that it is a difference. Now my company pays for 1/2 and I pay for 1/2, so technially if I go with the cheaper Insurance co. I would be saving a total of 979 for the year.
NOW here is my concern, My RE that I did all my stuff with does not take the cheaper insurance plan. So my mom keeps telling me that what if something happens and I lose the pregnancy (heaven forbid, but again thinking worst case) then I would have to pay everything out of pocket with my RE.
So what do you think? What would you ladies do? Do you think saving 979 a year is worth it? I know United is great and I know that you can see almost any doctor since its such a large company, but I dont know. I have to decide this no later than monday b/c my plan is goign to expire.
Thanks for your opinions...Sorry for it beign so long!
