A couple of weeks ago, I noticed this very skinny grey cat hanging around our patio. I had thrown out stale garlic bread for the birds & saw her dragging a piece away in her mouth. I felt AWFUL because there's no way a cat would eat garlic bread unless it was starving. Because we have 2 cats of our own, I had plenty of cat food so I put out some food. Something made me think it was a female & that she might be a mommy.

So little by little she started coming around more often. Normally my cats can be territorial, but they don't mind her at all. If we have the sliding glass door open, just the screen separates them & she sits right by the door & they all visit together. It's like social hour. I never knew when she'd be around so I'd just keep putting food out which started attracting all kinds of cats But now she knows my routine & she comes to visit in the morning when I get up to make Allie's bottle & is there when I get home from work. It's so sweet. DH stayed home the other day & he said she waited by the door for 4 hours for me

As I suspected, she has kittens. She doesn't always bring them, but every once in a while they come along. Now that she's getting used to me & trusts me, she brings them over more. I don't know how many there are b/c I see different ones each time, but they're ADORABLE & full of h.e.l.l. I've finally gotten enough of her trust to get close enough to take pictures of them. They came by tonight & I was taking pictures while they ate. I was only about a foot away. Just wanted to share them....don't mind our yucky, cheap patio furniture! I have all the chairs tipped forward so they wouldn't get full of puddles from all the rain we've been getting.

They've gotten so big..the first time one of them came by, he wasn't any bigger than a softball

baby kept pushing mommy out of the way...kids!

After dinner bath

From the other day... her other kitten is grey & white & sooooo cute!!!

Thanks for looking!

Oh my gosh they are SO cute! That is so nice that you are feeding them. I hope that they get comfortable enough with you so that maybe you can eventually get closer. The last kitten is just adorable

I´m glad you are feeding them,, just imagine poor mummy cat being hungry and trying to feed her kittens. I´m a soft touch too, thats how I ended up with 6 kittens, I started to feel sorry for a stray and fed her, then she moved in (started off in the garage, and after the vet visit she moved in the house) and 4 weeks later.. 6 little kittens born in my bed!!

i have to admit that im not a cat person but its very sweet!! Its lovely that she now trusts you and that youve been feeding them. Do you think she has always been a stray?or do you think she has been disowned. very sad when animals dont have any 'real' owners.

So cute! I'd be feeding them too if they were here. I hate seeing hungry animals.

I used to hate cats as the only ones I knew were mean. My dad brought a stray home one day from a friend's house. My mom was not happy at all. The cat turned out to be the sweetest thing though and everyone in the family fell in love with her. After a few days, my mom didn't object to the cat any more. The cat loved her and followd her around the house like a dog.

They're SO cute!! It's so sad she was so skinny before with no family--it's sweet that you're helping them out!

Aww, they're so cute!!! I love kitties, but DH only likes cats on a cat by cat basis.

They are precious. I came out to the living room this morning & saw Grey Baby ("mommy") waiting by the sliding glass door waiting for breakfast. Next to her was one of the black & whites literally hanging off of the screen Thank God DH didn't see that one! Now we've got a small tear in the screen for which I'm sure our cats will get blamed...guess they'll have to take one for the team..haha

It is SO WONDERFUL that you've taken the time to feed them and to earn their trust. Stray animals worldwide need the love and support of more people like you.

What do you think you'll do about them? Just keep feeding them indefinitely? I wonder if there is a no-kill shelter nearby you could call and talk to about them. It seems like maybe with time they could be socialized enough to make good pets...
