What does it feel like. LOL. Stupid question, I know, but I am REALLY hesitant to believe I may be in labor!
Last night around 8pm I started having pelvic pressure. I tried to fall asleep around 9:30 and that was pretty unsuccessful. I think I slept for a half hour before midnight. My pelvic pressure started to get pretty intense overnight. I didn't sleep for more than an hour after midnight.
Around 6:00 this morning, I realized that the pelvic pressure was constant, but would get worse in waves. So, I started timing them. Looks like they are lasting anywhere from 50 second to a minute and are about 3.5-5 minutes apart.
I am sure the variation is from my timing...because here is the problem. I don't feel my stomach getting hard with them. But, once I notice the pain is there, I can feel how hard my stomach is. Does that make any sense?
Also, they do not feel ANYTHING like I thought contractions would/should feel like. I only feel pain really low, like in my pelvic cavity. My lower back is sore also, but I can't determine if my "contractions" are wrapping around, happening in the front and back at the same time, or what!
My Dr's office opens at 8 and I think I will give them a call and see if they will let me come in and get an NST just to see if I am in labor. My Dr. told me she would do this for me a while ago, so I hope she is still agreeable to that!
This is just so weird! I thought I would know for sure when I went into labor and here I am questioning it! That's what really makes me think this is nothing. What do you think?
**Update 9:38AM**
Well, the nurse that I talked to is fairly confident that I am in early labor. I have been emptying certain body cavities since about midnight, and the pains are coming pretty consistantly since about 6am. I have been moving around a ton, changing position, took a warm shower, drinking water, went to the store, etc and they are still there. Can't tell if there are really getting worse or not though. But they are definately still there! I can still walk and talk through the pain, but it takes considerable more time effort! Hopefully this keeps up ladies! I want to meet Poppy!

Okay, Andrea!! Have you doubled over in pain from like a severe (and I do mean extremely severe) cramping type feeling? Can you walk and talk through the pain?

I read your update, and I felt like you were in early labor. For me, I had those type pains that you described for several hours. What was so crazy about me is that my water broke before I felt any contractions. Anyway, my water broke at around 10:30 a.m. and I started having contractions with a mild pain to them. We called the doctor and was told to come now since my water broke but I did not start having the severe contractions until about 2ish that afternoon. At that point, I could not walk or talk through my contrax and was immediately doubled over. You will absolutely know for sure when that happens!!

Labor to me, started like bad period cramps, and continuously got worse and worse until I was doubling over, couldn't talk, had to breath through them. Like everyone said, I KNEW once I was in labor. But, I think I had early labor that I was wondering if it was labor or not, and realized once it started what I had been feeling earlier. I had initially thought they were just braxton hicks contractions that were a little more severe.

I wouldn't really know My water broke, but I never contracted on my own & needed Pitocin to help me out. And there's no comparing regular contractions to pit contrax!
I'm so excited for you that you could be on your way!! Definitely try to move around as much as possible to help things along, but rest when you need to. You'll need all of your energy! GOOD LUCK!!

Good luck, Andrea! What you are describing lasted several hours for me and then moved to the can't talk and DH had to apply pressure to my back stage. Of course, by that time I was on Pitocin. I hope things get rocking and rolling fast! ELV's coming your way!!!!

I´m no use either, my water broke and the following day they started me on pit, then I got an epi at 6cm so I never felt a contrax. (Only 1 whilst they were putting in the epi, it was like bad cramp)-
Good luck, keep us posted on Poppy´s progress!

My water broke before I felt contractions. A half hour after it broke, I felt menstrual-like cramps - those lasted about 9 hours and then the rough stuff began. Started out in my lower belly. Expanded to my upper thighs and then moved around to my back. Those lasted about 2 hours and came in waves - the last hour being REALLY painful where they didn't come in waves but were right on top of each other.
I was able to walk myself to the bathroom up until those last two hours - then I was doubled over and had a hard time breathing through the contractions. Talking was easy for me, though - I had no problem telling people to shut up and get away from me
Good luck and ELV's!!
