x-posted in DDC:

I just got back from my regular OB appt. First, I was supposed to see another doctor in the practice but when I got in the room, that doc had to go do an emergency c-section so my regular doc came in instead (I was happy about that). She said I only gained 3 lbs in one month (yay!!), I'm measuring right on target and her HB was 176. I said that I thought it was kinda high since she usually runs in the 140s and 150s, she said it was okay because they should have a flucuation during their down time and active time. So, since she wasn't worried about it, neither am I.

I don't know if you guys know but I have been getting ultrasounds every 4 weeks with Maternal and Fetal Medicine (mostly it was to follow the other twin). I go next week for that regular u/s and my doc said she had a sneaky suspicion that they would want to start bio-physical profiles on me (for those of you who don't know what this is, basically I'll be strapped to a heart rate monitor for a period of time and also have an ultrasound).

SO....that means that I have to start going for weekly u/s appts and she's starting my every 2 weeks early too (normally I would go for one more 4 week appt but she decided to start my 2 weeks to coincide with my BPP).

It's not completely 100% decided but I'm preparing myself for this. Man, I was just saying how lucky I was to get ultrasounds monthly and now I have to go weekly !! Basically, starting next friday until the end of my pregnancy, I will be going for weekly ultrasounds.

It's always possible you'll start weekly BPP and then stop. I started weekly ones at 24 w and then stopped at 28w as everything looked great. I started again at at about 32 w as that's what they normally do w/ twin pregnancies. The BPP u/s doesn't necessarily take as long as other u/s. Mine are scheduled for an hour, 30 minutes for each baby. Usually they take way less time. They'll make sure that the baby is doing specific things and take a few measurements. It sounds like a lot, but it's nice to make sure everything is progressing as it should.

you're not behind, it was news to me too. I asked her why and she said that Maternal and Fetal medicine are treating me as if I were high risk (which is why I get an ultrasound every 4 weeks and have done so my whole pregnancy) so she feels as though they will do the BPP. I'm happy to see her weekly and to make sure everything is okay. I"m just hoping that it doesn't take up too much of my vacation time before she comes!!

Cel- I didn't realize they could decide to stop them? That's awesome though! How long do you have to sit on the heartbeat monitor?
