I finally broke down on Friday and went to an ultrasound place to find out the gender. The baby finally decided to cooperate after several tries only to reveal the cord was right between the baby's legs! So, no gender for me yet
The baby is still laying face down in the same position it has always been laying in every ultrasound. The tech said that unless the baby turns over, we won't be finding out the gender anytime soon. I'm hoping the baby flips over before my doctor's ultrasound which we will scheduled in 2 weeks.
But for now, I was pretty bummed.

I'm so sorry! It has to be frustrating when you want to know and the little bugger won't show.
Do you have a yoga ball? Sitting on that can loosen things up and help baby have room to move around.

Try drinking some Orange Juice or something with some caffine in it right before your appointment. I drank a Coke right before my gender ultrasound and we had NO problem seeing our little boy's manhood parts. He was really active. Just a suggestion.

I drank about 4 glasses of OJ before the appointment! I wanted to make sure my little one was awake LOL. Baby was moving side to side and kicking alot but just didn't want to flip all the way over to get that cord to move.
I'm thinking I will schedule the next ultrasound for the morning time and see if that works better.

How frustrating! The same thing happened to Melissa (LoandBehold). I would be so anxious to KNOW already.

So sorry, that stinks! OJ and vitamin water did the trick for me. Hopefully your LO will cooperate at the next one.

I'm sorry you couldn't see the gender. My baby is very stubborn too, and is always in goofy positions. When we 1st went in for the gender u/s his hands were crossed in front of his privates, his legs were crossed AND the umbilical cord was between his legs. After a few minutes he flipped around and we got a perfect view. I hope your LO isn't so shy at the next apt. I have a feeling you're having a little girl for some reason!

I drank sprite, which made her active but not to show off her goods...finally at thend of the ultrasound I got up to pee and that made her flip around just enough to show she was a girl. 16 weeks is still early, so you have time! I hope he/she flips for you at your next visit!!

My baby girl did the same thing, we still don't know for sure that it is a girl because she was in the same position at BOTH ultrasounds, but the first one we got a better view and so we are going with the tech who told us it was a girl!!!
We have a 3D ultrasound in 2.5 weeks!!!

I know how frustrating that can be! At my 20 week u/s the baby was moving a TON but she wouldn't open her legs so it was just a guess that she's a girl, a guess the u/s tech wasn't very confident about. When I went back for a 4D two weeks later I drank a caramel frappuccino (which I never drink because I never go to Starbucks) and she was bouncing all over the place!
Good luck at your next u/s!!!!

I got a call last night about an ultrasound school that my friend is attending that will do a scan for free and the instructor will do the gender determination for us We are going tonight to try and take another peek at the baby's gender! Wish me luck
