x-posted from DDC:

When I saw the number come up on my cell phone, my heart sank. I just KNEW it was my dr. calling me with bad news....

Here were my numbers:

Fasting: 88
1 hr: 214
2 hr: 187
3 hr: 116

So I passed for fasting and my 3 hour. My doc said I will not have to be insulin dependant (thank god) I will just have to check my sugars, change my diet and IF needed, they will give me an oral insulin pill, like metformin.

I'm pretty bummed but I feel better about it knowing I won't have to give myself shots everyday. *sigh* for a more positive outlook, I know that Bella will not be over due!!!

Sorry you got bad news. I am glad that you won't be insulin dependent and that your sugars weren't too high. I know it can be tough to change you diet though, especially with all of the cravings! I think you said in an earlier post that your sister had GD while she was pregnant. Hopefully she can help you learn what to eat. Are they going to be sending you to an outpatient diabetes clinic to help you learn what to eat?

I'm sorry you have to go through this, but that is good you won't have to give yourself shots everyday. That must be such a relief.

I'm so sorry that you got that bad news

but, glad that your sugars weren't too high that you would need shots, those would be horrible...well, at least you know what it is, and you are doing everything possible to keep it managed properly

Yes my sister did have GD so I"m grateful that she can guide me along. I will have to go to a diabetes class at Maternal and Fetal Medicine (which is where I get my ultrasounds now). That's where they will give me my glucometer and teach me about what I can and can't eat. My doc said they'll call me early next week to set that up.
