I had my 26 week appt today - baby's heartbeat was 151, I was measuring 26 cm and my BP was 112/67. The doctor was happy with my weight gain and said everything looks great.

Then she sent me down to the lab for my 1 hour glucose test. I have to say the Glucola wasn't bad, tasted very similar to orange soda. The only problem was all that liquid, carbonation and sugar in a 5 minute period made me feel mildly sick, and made me burp several times.

I just got a call from my doctor about my results -

First, I'm slightly anemic so she's prescribing me an iron supplement and a stool softener. Even though my prenatal has iron in it she said it's not enough.

And my glucose results showed me at 139 and her cutoff is 140 so she said it was borderline. She pretty much left it up to me if I wanted to do the 3 hour test because she doesn't think it will come back positive (she said my breakfast this morning, just a bowl of cereal, could have caused my number to be a little high) but given my age she did say she'd recommend I get it. I'd rather just do it than not know so I'm going back this week for the 3 hour test.

Anyone else borderline with their 1 hour and do fine on their 3 hour?

sorry you were borderline. if it were me, I'd probably want to do the 3-hour test just for peace of mind, but she's probably right that if you'd had eggs or something for Bfast, it might have put your number a bit lower.

I'd do the 3 hour to be safe if it were me, but it's very common to fail the 1 hour and do fine on the 3 hour. I hope that's what happens to you. I'm glad everything else went well! Being anemic is wicked common, too.

Sounds like breakfast messed with your results. Good luck on the 3-hour test.

Good luck on the three hour. I hope your results are negative so you don't have to worry about GD during the pregnancy.

I'm going tomorrow or Thursday for my 3 hour test. It's so bizarre to me that the instructions for the test say to eat a regular breakfast the day of the test - so I did - why say that if your breakfast can mess with the result? Apparently though there are two schools of thought on this and some doctors actually say to not eat the morning of the test - wish my doctor had said that. My doctor thinks I'll do fine on the 3 hour but better safe than sorry - so I'm definitely going to do it.
