I've mentioned this in my DDC but wanted to let the TTC#1 girls know too.
2 weeks ago I noticed this red mark on my upper leg, about the size of a quarter. We had just had a 12 hour drive home from Baltimore, so I thought maybe the way I was sitting just positioned me against something. It didn't look like a bug bite and wasn't itchy at all.
I didn't noticed anything the rest of that week. Tue-Thur I was in Canada. I got back Thursday night and happened to see this HUGE red mark! It's sort of on the side/back of my upper thigh/butt, so many of my comfy undies probably cover the whole thing which is why I didn't notice it for over a week. This night (thankfully!) I must have been wearing smaller cut ones.
Anyway, it totally turned into the stereotypically bullseye mark. I saw my PCP on Friday who agreed it was most likely Lyme Disease. The tests just came back positive and I'll be on amoxicillin three times a day for three weeks.
Since I caught it so early (before I had any symptoms) it shouldn't pose a problem for me or baby (my OB said the same). But of course there's always a chance it will, because it does pass the placenta, so when I go to see my OB I'm going to see if he'll do an ultrasound just to put me at ease! I do feel movement though, so I know the baby is fine right now.
Here is a pic of the rash....it's probably 4"+ in diameter (and like I said, 1.5 weeks prior it was the size of a quarter).

I had left a voicemail with my OB telling him what my PCP put me on, etc. He just called me back and said since I caught it before I had the symptoms which is when it's dangerous (especially not treated) that we should both be fine. And that amoxicillin is 100% fine in pregnancy. I'm SO glad I saw it and that it was so obvious!

I have no idea how/where I personally got it, but you typically get it by being bitten by an infected deer tick. EWWWW right? lol I live in a city, and don't go hiking or camping (typical risk factors), so I couldn't tell you how I got it. But I'm glad it was so obvious for sure! I think it's more prevalent in the north east US too.

o man that really sucks! I'm glad you caught it early and it won't do any damage though.
Lymes is pretty common in Maryland as well - maybe you got it in Baltimore?

Yeah that's possible too, but I think I've read typically you get the rash 1-4 weeks after the bite and I was in Baltimore Fri-Sun and noticed the rash Monday. Who knows!
