We went in for our second weight check yesterday. Arya is now 5 lbs 4.5 oz, only .05 oz from her birth weight. Eiley is 5 lbs 6.5 oz, so she still has a ways to go to reach her birth weight (5 lbs 12 oz). All in all, the doctor was happy with their weight gain considering I haven't been supplementing with formula. They have to go back again next monday just to make sure Eiley is gaining about an oz a day. So far she's been averaging just under. We stuff her full, but she falls asleep so easily and it's hard to wake her up to feed when she's really asleep.

Has your milk come in yet? I'm glad the docs are ok with their weight gain. Especially at the beginning it's so stressful to know if they are gaining or not! Hope they keep growing!!!

I'm sure weight gain will pick up as they get used to BFing.

Yeah, my milk has come in. It came in a few days after their birth. Last Monday and Tuesday I was painfully engorged. I spent a ton of time with warm compresses and my pump as the girls were not draining me well enough. Arya has an amazing suck. Eiley's is not bad, but not as good as Arya's. Her suck reflex is getting stronger each day. They have days like today, where they'll both want to latch on for hours. I think they're just upping my supply, so I let them. I just chill on the couch while they do it. I think some of it is also pacify sucking. I'm allowing them to do that right now as they get stronger and closer to their due dates. I'll eventually put an end to most of that.
