I'm having a hard time deciding on a swing. Does anyone have one that they particularly love? What are the features that make it so great?

I've been looking and looking but can't seem to choose which one to register for. The newer ones are so expensive because they keep adding features and I don't know if all of that is really necessary.

Help anyone?

I have the FP my little lamb cradle swing and Haylea loves it! I like it because it can swing side to side or front to back...we only do side to side though.

Our swing goes side to side and front to back as well. It's Graco and if you have a graco car seat it snaps right in. We don't have graco car seats, but I'm sure that's super nice when you get home from somewhere and don't want baby to wake. It plays classical music and this rainforrest heart beat type sounds that almost always put the girls to sleep. It's light tan and very neutral looking, no in your face baby colors. The best feature is that it plugs in, so there is no need for batteries. I love this swing and wouldn't trade it for any other option right now.

I think it's called the Sweet Peace swing.

I recommend getting one like the Papasan because I think it goes side-to-side and forwards-and-backwards. My cousin's daughter has the 3-in-1 swing and that's the only swing Siera likes (she fell asleep in it within 5 minutes). I was given the Graco Sweatpeace as a gift which goes for like $170 and Siera hates it. But it has a bazillion features (none of which do any good since she doesn't like it).

You could always hold out on the swing and wait until baby is here - I've seen couples take their kids to the store and actually test them out.

Well I have a papasan cradle swing from FP... actually I've had two and the motor burnt out on the first one and the second one wouldn't even swing from the moment I put it together. If you check their feedback you will see alot of people have had the same problem. (Just wanted to let you know) IF it had actually worked from the beginning..... Kerrigan loves it. It was like the only place she would sleep other than with us.
I personally would never buy a FP swing again.

We have the Boppy swing and love it. It only swings front to back, but the seat vibrates and it plays music and nature sounds. Lately that's how we get him to sleep at night. Then after the first time he wakes up, we transfer him to the Pack N Play. It's also very neutral colors and matches great in our family room.

You might try going to a consignment sale for a swing. I got a papasan FP swing that was a slightly older model and only very gently used for $25 last year. I don't know where you live, but look up a Just Between Friends sale and check it out. It is a wonderful resource!

I second trying to buy one used. We bought our sweet peace one for practically nothing off of craigslist and it's barely been used. The cloth parts come off and I washed them before using the swing. I also wiped down all the plastic parts. It looks brand new.

We have one of the larger Graco ones and haven't even used it. I'm borrowing a Boppy swing from my sister and we use that instead. It's smaller and much easier to move around.

I didnt have one as Ana will not be confined anywhere!, even from new she preferred the baby gym. Just get one with an a/c plug so you´re not buying batteries every 10 minutes.

We got the Graco Silhouette swing, mainly because it matched our travel system. It had good reviews, but I'm not sure if the LO will like it yet or not! So I guess I'm really no help!

We have the papasan one, we like it, except for being run on batteries. It eats them like crazy. I recommend getting this if you get the FP papasan one

I second this. We had two FP little lamb swings and could NOT have lived without it. They girls slept in there forever!! Def get the AC adapter Lindsey suggested above though. Saves you money in the end! We had zero mechanical problems with either swing. They ran great! I cried when we sold them....
