What kind of routine do/did you have for your LO at this age (around 1 month)? I thought I would be the type that would want to bathe her every day but now that she is here I have been doing it every 3 days or so. Even then I am not sure she even needs it but I feel guilty letting her go longer than that! What are your schedules like and what time of day do you give them a bath? Morning, afternoon...or before bedtime??

I wash her every night around 6-6:30. I know she doesn't need it every day but she likes the bath and it relaxes her when I massage her with the bedtime lotion. And by the time that whole routine is done, it's easier to get her down to sleep.

We give Amelia a bath about every three days or so and I just wipe her down a bit if she needs it the other days. We usually give a bath at night but sometimes on the weekend it's in the morning.

At first, I only gave Allie a bath twice a week. But then DH made me feel guilty for not doing it more so I started doing it every other night (before bed, sometimes in the afternoon at that age). But then she started getting little teeny tiny bumps on her shoulders & such. I suspected it was b/c she was exposed to the water & soap too much & the pedi confirmed it. He said babies only need to be bathed twice a week at the most, but more like once a week.
Allie's 5.5 months, but for about 3 months now, I've been giving her a bath 2-3 times a week but at Haylea's age, I'd do it less often. HTH!
ETA: I bathe her at night which used to help her sleep better until the recent God awful sleep regression she's been experiencing.

Thanks ladies! It makes me feel better to know that I am not the only twice a week bather here! I was starting to feel like a bad mommy for not doing it more often but I have heard it isn't good for their skin this early to do it too often.

At first we only gave her a bath like every 2-3 days, but now it's every other day. I only do that because 1) she spits up A LOT and 2) she has so much freaking hair that it needs to get washed!! But we almost always do bath time at night before bed.

For the first month or so - When my mom helped me out, she washed her every day. When it was just me, I washed her every other day (she was a tiny preemie and I was scared ). Now that I'm more comfortable, I got her set-up with the bathtime routine to get her into the bedtime routine as well.

I bathed Ana at 9pm every night, it was really hot here and it relaxed her. I bathed her in her bucket and it always made her poop (either in the bucket or within 5 minutes) and then I massaged her with almond oil, pyjamas, story with Daddy (well, he read her the sports pages from the papaer!) and then hour long BF and bed. I personally think the strict routine helped her to know what to do, she slept 6 hours solid from 2 weeks and 8 hours from 6 weeks.
Now I start the same routine at 8 and she is asleep by 9.30 and wakes at 8.
I only use soap if she is very dirty or sweaty. Hairwash every 2 days.

We bathe Cherie every 3-4 days. Her skin gets dry and I don't see a reason to do it any more often. She doesn't spit up much or have much hair. I usually just wipe her down if she gets dirty before bath day.

At Haylea's age, we bathed Elliott every second or third day. If he had a terrible poo or was stinky because of too much spit-up, we would do it on the second day. After the initial dry skin, we haven't had any issues with dry skin at all. Both DH and I have very sensitive skin, so we wanted to be cautious with Elliott. So far, so good. Now we bathe every other day because he's eating food and it gets everywhere!!!!

We started giving Lilyana a bath every night when she was 2 weeks old. We don't always use soap and sometimes it is a sponge bath. She LOVES her bath though. We thought it might help her differentiate day sleep from night sleep to have a good night time routine. I'm not sure if it is from our routine or not, but Lilyana goes to bed around 8:30-9 and sleeps until 4ish, eats, and then sleeps until 8 or 9.

I started bathing Kerrigan every night as soon as her cord fell off. It was so hot and she would sweat so much that she would get terrible sores in her neck. Not too mention she has a ton of hair. Now it's just part of her bedtime routine... she gets a bath, lots of lotion, nursed, and put down. I don't do it every single night, but I try to. I figure I will stop bathing her so frequently when she is out of diapers.

Since Nathan was born, we bathed him every evening, lots of lotion, and then ready for bed. I think it's helped established a good bedtime routine for us.
