Tomorrow DH and I are meeting an OBGYN. I'm really hoping i like her. It's only a 15 minute meeting, just for us to get to know her a little and decide whether she's what we're looking for. We've been coming up with some questions to ask, but i wanted to get your opinions because i want to make sure we ask anything that could be important in the future. What kind of things should i ask?

Thanks ladies

I'm not sure what to ask. I just picked mine by word of mouth. Sorry!

I found mine by word of mouth also but I asked him his views on epidurals, if he was going to be the actual DR delivering me, etc. I think my main thing was just to make sure I felt comfortable with him and, luckily, I did. Good luck tomorrow!

Um, maybe ask how long he/she has been around? Ask for any referrals (like maybe other patients) maybe ask about how you can get a hold of them during non-business hours. How many doctors are there?

*make sure you are in agreement about the type of birth you want (if you want no meds, or you want dimmed lights and your favorite relaxing music playing, your OB really has to be on the same page)
*make sure she is available and can easily be paged when you go into labor. if for some reason she CAN'T make it to deliver you, find out who will, and see if you are comfy with that other person(s)

those are the two I can think of off the top of my head, other than obvious ones like how long she's been practicing and all that...

Hope the meeting goes well. I agree that you should fine out who will be delivering if your doctor is not available.
