OK I had my emergency c section on June 10, 2009. I believe my incision has healed well (doc thinks so too) but ever since delivery I've had this weird bruise on the left side of my belly (below the belly button but still about an inch or two above the incision). And it the past month or so the whole area has gotten MUCH more sensitive. At the last appointment with my OB (which was 2 weeks ago) I told her and had her look at it. She was stumped. She pushed all around and said she had no idea and that it wasn't a hernia (thank goodness!) All she told me was to put heat on it and take ibprofen at night and if it wasn't better in a MONTH to come back. Well, ever since the visit it's gotten worse. It's about right in line with my pants and even barely brushing up against the counter tops or just buttoning my pants makes it hurt. Sometimes there is a sharp pain (not excruciating or anything but a pain) or sometimes a burning sensation. I'm sure it's something with my muscles because when the doc was pushing around it didn't really hurt when I was completely layed flat but if I were to lift my head and therefore engaging the muscles it would hurt then. Has anyone ever experienced anything like this? I feel like if I go to the doc they will just say "Well, you did have a c section" but I had the section 15 weeks ago!!!! Shouldn't I be healed (for the most part) by now? I'm at such a loss right now?!?!
Like even as I sit here at my desk it hurts?!?!?!

Sounds weird...bruising is caused from bleeding. Not to freak you out but I wonder if you have a small bleed that is causing the bruising and tenderness? I would get it checked out before a month since it is getting worse.

is it a bruise you can see or does it just feel sore? my belly above the incision is super sore, but my incision feels fine. my nerve endings are all messed up in my skin. some of my skin hurts to touch and feels like i have a burn, some of it is numb. i used to get hot shooting pains from the incision but those nerves have healed. it could just be nerve damage. it can take a year for things to heal completely.
if it is a bruise you can see then i agree you should have it checked out.

Thanks guys!! Yes, there is a bruise you can see on the skin. Now I'm kind of worried. Maybe I should call the doc.

There is a c section board on JM and they may know more there.
I dunno about the bruising, but I do know that my incision has been more sore theses days I think from regaining feeling there and the nerves re-routing. And when I stand Jack on my lap he likes to kick me there. I'd say show us a pic but I guess that would be inappropriate

how wierd. I dont have any bruising (i did at first but its gone now). My incision is fine, I have had some pains like you explained, sort of like stabbing/shooting pains but Im assuming its because Im still healing. Maybe you should get it checked out before then. It could be something totally normal though. Let us know what you do

Sounds strange to me. I would go in. I have "ghost" incision pains, but never had any bruising. KUP I'm curious!?

I wouldn't be too too worried if it were just the pain, but the bruising doesn't sound normal. I definitely think you should call to have it looked at.
I have a weird pain on my right side near my waist. I didn't think it could have anything to do with my c-section, but it turns out that it has something to do with the muscles being cut. It's so annoying and gets worse and worse the more I walk. I really haven't exercised since because it hurts so much!

Glad you got an appt Gwen. I hope everything checks out ok.
For what it's worth, I had my c/s just over 6 months ago & I still have frequent soreness & pain in that general area. Sometimes it's like a sharp burn other times more generalized. And when Allie kicks me... Even though it seems like 3 months or even 6 months is plenty of time to heal from surgery, it can take up to a year or more to really recover. They had to push & pull things around (i.e taking your bladder off your uterus) in order to get to the baby so with that much trauma, it takes a while to heal.

That is a long time to wait but glad you got an appt. If the bruising gets worse though i would call back. It seems normal to still be tender from the trauma of surgery but the trauma is over so continued bruising doesnt sound right to me. Hopefully it gets better soon,
