Hey sweetie! I hope everything goes okay with your 3hr. I failed my 1hr so badly that they didn't even have me do the 3hr and my 1hr numbers were 194. And it doesn't always have something to do with family or mean that it will be something you will still have after the baby is born. I developed Gestational Diabetes around 29 weeks and it's not fun but if you have the proper education and guidance on how to eat balanced it's really not that bad.
I'm in the hospital right now and eating off the regular menu with a few modifications I make myself and ordering food from the pavillion grille downstairs. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions about GD if you happen to get diagnosed with it. The good news is, if you are diagnosed with GD, it should go away after the baby is born by about 6 weeks when they will test you again with another 1hr glucose test.
good luck with your 3hr and keep us posted. *lots of hugs*
Oh..and as for having a large baby - I have hardly gained much weight this whole pregnancy....maybe about 10-15lbs and when they did my last ultrasound, Ashlynn was 5lb 8oz and in the 50th percentile when it comes to size. I think if you eat out of control you might wind up with a large baby but if you know how to manage it - it's nothing to worry about it.
