I failed my one hour sugar test Ugh now i'm all freaked out that i'm going to have diabeties since my mom and a couple of other people on my moms side of the family do. My nurse said 8/10 people dont actually have it once they do the three hour but still. i guess i should be happy they did the test sooner rather then waiting until 20+ weeks if i do have it though huh? Might help keep a better handle on things i suppose.

Oh that sucks! I'm glad for you they didn't wait though! Just in case...... you don't want to end up with a 20LBS baby I was wondering how come they did it so early because mine is only scheduled for 26 weeks. I hope everything goes well on your 3hr one!

Hey sweetie! I hope everything goes okay with your 3hr. I failed my 1hr so badly that they didn't even have me do the 3hr and my 1hr numbers were 194. And it doesn't always have something to do with family or mean that it will be something you will still have after the baby is born. I developed Gestational Diabetes around 29 weeks and it's not fun but if you have the proper education and guidance on how to eat balanced it's really not that bad.

I'm in the hospital right now and eating off the regular menu with a few modifications I make myself and ordering food from the pavillion grille downstairs. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions about GD if you happen to get diagnosed with it. The good news is, if you are diagnosed with GD, it should go away after the baby is born by about 6 weeks when they will test you again with another 1hr glucose test.

good luck with your 3hr and keep us posted. *lots of hugs*

Oh..and as for having a large baby - I have hardly gained much weight this whole pregnancy....maybe about 10-15lbs and when they did my last ultrasound, Ashlynn was 5lb 8oz and in the 50th percentile when it comes to size. I think if you eat out of control you might wind up with a large baby but if you know how to manage it - it's nothing to worry about it.

Thanks everyone! And thanks Fyre, i'll PM you if i have any questions for sure My nurse said not to freak out (easier said then done right?) and that most people dont end up having a problem so i guess i shall just wait and see. I have to get it done before i go for my NT scan which is the 8th so i'll probably do it Monday
