Had my 36 week appt and U/S yesterday...
First off, Mari is still looking great...she's measuring in the 47% for growth, around 6lbs 3ozs right now and blood flow through cord is still good...
I am not dialated at all, but my cervix is thinning she said...
My blood pressure on the other hand was through the roof, so since it was Friday and the start of the weekend...my doctor sent me to L& D to be monitored for awhile. Three hours later, I was sent home with meds to lower my blood pressure. So glad I did not have to stay there!!!!
At the moment, I am not showing any signs of pre-eclampsia--so that's great news. Lab work is normal and I have to do another 24 hour urine collection. Mari was monitored for a good hour or so and she did great and I also discovered I was having contractions...though most likely Braxton Hicks ones since I couldn't even feel them, but they were fairly regular.
My doctor said due to the blood pressure issues, she will not let me go any later than 39 weeks (which would be Oct 23rd) and if I begin to showing ANY signs of pre-eclampsia...then they will induce labor...
The thought that we will meet our daughter in 20 days or less is so overwhelming...I still feel like I'm not quite prepared yet! We're so excited, but it's scary!!!

Ana was 6lb 3 when she was born! Sounds like they have you well supervised, I dont think you can ever be completely ready, thereŽll always be an emergency trip to the pharmacy/store for something!!

To tell you the truth, I was sooo NOT impressed with this U/S tech. The one I usually have is so thorough and explains everything as she goes along, but this was a new person to me and she didn't seem to be very accurate...when she was measuring Mari's head and abdomen, I could tell she was being pretty sloppy about it because her first measurements concluded that she would be 6lbs 12ozs...which is a HUGE leap from 4lbs 13 ozs at the last appt. She then retook the measurements and concluded 6lbs 3ozs, but again, I felt she still was not measuring closely enough...granted these are only estimates...but some techs seem to be more accurate than others...

I'm sorry you had to have a trip to L&D but happy to hear you got to go home!! Induction isn't the worst thing in the world. Lots of people have successful inductions so I hope you aren't worried about that. Having said that, I do hope you get the opportunity to go into labor on your own!
U/s are only estimates and they can be a pound or 1.5 lbs off either way!

I'm definitely hoping to go into labor naturally because I would love to labor in water, which I can't do if I get induced...however, it is good to know that inductions aren't bad...the only thing I've heard is that it can bring on some really hard contractions quickly...but I don't know much about it otherwise

That's the pitocin they give you. In our family, we lovingly call it the liquid devil . If you are planning a water birth, are you planning to go natural if you are induced? I heard the pit is really hard to handle without pain management. Obviously the goal here is to get Mari out nice and safely into your arms....I have succomed to the fact that I might be induced as well so I'm preparing myself for the pitocin and epidural.
maybe you should do some research on inductions to be prepared, just in case? couldn't hurt

So glad you didn't have to stay in L+D and that you aren't showing any signs of preeclampsia. It must be exciting and overwhelming to know you little one will be here so soon. I hope you go into labor naturally in the coming weeks so they don't have to induce.

The research is definitely a good idea!
My hospital will not allow waterbirths due to liability issues, but they will let you labor in the tub as long as you have not been induced...
A friend of mine was just asking about whether I will try to deliver naturally or having an epidural and I told her that I really had no preference either way...if I can tolerate labor well enough, I will try for natural, but I have absolutely no problem requesting an epidural if I need it

Oh my goodness - you're getting so close!!!! Yay!! I can't wait to "meet" Mari!! I feel like you've been pregnant for so long! LOL! I'm sure you feel that way even more. I guess I was about half way through my pregnancy when you found out you were pg so it just seems like Amelia has been here for so long already. Time flies once they're born!
