I've heard some doctors dont let you wear contacts in case of c section they dont want to have to worry about taking them out before, is that right? I dont even own glasses... so maybe i'de better get some just in case?

I was also just wondering about this since I usually wear contacts, but I do own a pair of glasses. I was wondering if I should even bother bringing my contacts to the hospital at all or just leave them at home.

Hmm, never thought about this as I'm also a contacts wearer. I'm interested to know the answer! I HATE wearing my glasses.

I think i asked this a while ago and someone told me it was because they didnt want to deal with it in an emergency c section... and then today i was watching a baby show and noticed again that the women all had on glasses so it refreshed the thought in my mind

I don't even think my doctor knows that I wear contacts and I wasn't going to tell her. I usually wear my contacts, all day everyday, and I intended to wear them during labor. However, lately my contacts have been irritating my eyes so much that I've been wearing my glasses a lot more lately. It's possible I won't even be wearing my contacts when I go into labor if this irritation continues so it will be a non-issue for me. I'd always heard pregnant women can have issues with contacts when pregnant but I never thought it would happen to me - YEAH RIGHT! It stinks but I'm slowly getting used to wearing my glasses all day.

Hmm, I don't know the answer, but I do know that most of my friends that wear contacts did wear glasses in labor... I know many of them were bothered by their contacts too, though.

I've never heard of this before. I don't have contacts & only wear glasses when I need to see far away. I had an emergency c/s & didn't bring my glasses in with me. I mostly wore glasses during my time there because my eyes were tired. I'd imagine that if wore contacts, I wouldn't want to be bothered washing them & using the rewetting solution if my eyes got dry.

For what it's worth, they never made me take off either my or DH's wedding rings (or my necklace)... normally jewelry is a no no in the OR

I was kind of wondering about this too. I wear contacts also, but I don't know if I will want to bother with the hassle at the hospital.
