OK so for those who remember I was having some issues with my stomach...I assumed it was from the c-section. I have some bruising below the belly button but above my incision line and it's very sensitive and tender to touch...anyway, I had my doctor appointment today with the doctor who did my c-section....she thinks I have damage to the ilionguinal nerve and has referred me to a surgeon......
I go see the surgeon on Monday afternoon, but I'm soooo unbelievably bummed out. She said from what I am describing it sounds like the nerve got damaged somehow during the surgery and it needs to be buried under the muscle again so basically I have to be cut BACK open again! I have worked soooooo very hard and getting back to even better shape than before and now I'm going to start all over again with my recovery. She said in the past he has been able to use the same incision line and may only have to cut a through a little of it, but it's possible he would have to completely cut open the incision again. I guess I will learn more on Monday's appointment, but I just wanted to give everyone an update and just vent some frustrations.........
-signed SUPER BUMMED OUT GIRL......S
*****UPDATED AFTER DOC APPOINTMENT*****
OK so I had the doc appt with the surgeon yesterday. I have good news and just ok news....
GOOD NEWS.......I don't have to have surgery!!!
Just OK NEWS....the other options to hopefully fix it I'm none to happy about.
OK so first off, the surgeon is great!! Very personable and explained everything very well. You rarely find a doctor that looks you in your eyes and explains things in detail. Anyway, him being a surgeon and all I really thought he would jump at the chance to do a surgery, but it was actually opposite. He said that IF it were to come to surgery there is only a 50-75% chance of it actually helping or fixing the problem. So that's out. He said it's not worth it to cut me back open again. So with that said...he first sent me to get a CT scan today to rule out a hernia or other complications the emergency c section could have caused. He said he doubts there is a hernia because he doesn't feel a bulge, but just needs to rule it out for sure. And BTW...has anyone everyone gotten a CT scan...it was noooo fun. First I had to drink these two huge drinks...gross then drink another milk of magnesia type drink...again gross. Then I had to get an iv....I had no idea it was going to be so much. Anyway, I should get those results on Thursday. I don't expect them to find anything - it was more a preventitive measure. OH and the best part they told me AFTER I drank the crap was that it was probably going to cause me to get diarreha...what freaking fun!! Anyway, the next option is to try physical therapy...not a fan of physical therapy since I've tried it before with zero results, but I'll give it 2 sessions and go from there. If the physical therapy doesn't work then he suggests I go to the Pain Management Center...which again I'm not a fan of since I have done this with previous back injuries. However, the surgeon said it was different and explained it very well. So, if the physical therapy doesn't work then I'm going to go the Pain Management route. Basically, I would get an injection right into the nerve itself and if that makes the pain go away then they will eventually inject something (not sure exactly what) into it and completely deaden it which would get rid of the pain, but leave a numb spot on my skin...oh well, small price to pay if it gets rid of my pain. So anyway, that's where I'm at. The results of the CT scan on Thursday then head to physical therapy then onto Pain Management. I'm a little skeptical of the pain management, but I'm willing to try. Oh the other thing the surgeon said was that the stitches they put in during the c section don't dissolve for 6-9 months after the section and it could go away after that, but not for sure. He said basically during an emergency c section like I had, their main priority is to get the baby out even at the mother's expense so that's why this happened to me. WHEW...I've written a book now. Thanks for listening and for all your support!!!

Oh no! I am sorry Gwen, I would be sooo bummed too. On the positive side, I bet the surgery recovery will be quick since you are in such good shape. ((hugs))

So sorry to hear this! I didn't even know this was a possible side effect to the C-Section. I am hoping you will find out more at your appointment and please keep us updated.

I am so sorry Gwen. I was afraid it would be something like that...I knew it didn't sound normal. Hopefully the surgeon has better news...I wonder if they can do a lap?? The healing time would be much less if they can do what they need to do in that small of an incision. Let us know how the appt goes.

That is terrible news, Gwen! I am so sorry that it sounds like a complicated resolution that will be a set-back to your super-bod. Not to mention being limited in picking up Paige. Please KUP on Monday with what the surgeon says.

Thanks everyone. I just feel so defeated right now. So frustrated and bummed...anyway, thanks for the support. I will update after Mondays appointment too. UGHHHHH
Courtney...I thought of that exactly (about picked up Paige) and that is even more frustrating. My poor DH needs a HUGE award for being so supportive. He has been so helpful with allowing me to go to the gym, watching her all alone when I have to work nights and now he will have to be the primary care giver again so I can recover from this...I feel horrible for all of this. I'm sure after I sleep on this I will feel better, but right now I'm just so frustrated...

It always seems that you get kicked when you´re down!. I hope that they can do keyhole surgery and not have to reopen the whole scar. Caring for Paige will be a pain, but you can still be there whilst Daddy learns to do everything.
How long will you get off work for it?
