I am sure this has been asked before, but now I actually have a notebook by the computer to take notes with. I am due in December and someone asked this question in our DDC. I thought I would ask it here too because you can never have enough input.
What do you really need once you bring the new baby home?
What are some other things that are just good to have?
I want all of your input......no comment will be too small. Can you tell me everything from diapers and wipes to car seats and gas drops.
Thank you!!

(we didn't have to bring our baby home since he was born at home, but....this is the main things we used/needed)
-Diapers
-wipes
-blankets (had like 14 or so, used them for everything. Had about 10 flannel ones and 4 really big ones from BabyGap and GerberOrganic that we used for swaddling)
-clothes (have a few outfits in different sizes, our lil guy was too small for his newborn pants, so i had to go get him some preemie pants since it was cold in Jan. he fit in newborn sized for about 6 weeks. Gerber brand runs small as does Old Navy, Carter's runs a bit big. I would say BabyGap and Childrensplace fit jut right)
-3 different hats
-some socks
-baby towel and washcloths for his sponge baths
-organic/natural baby shampoo & lotion
-heavy maxi pads for post partum bleeding
-boppy for nursing
-swing for his naps
-bouncer (put him in when I went to the bathroom)
- (we co-slept didn't use a bassinet or crib)
-rocker for nursing
-diaper pail
-nail clippers
-nasal aspirator/bulb sygriene
-carseat
-baby carrier (sleepy wrap is what i have)
-stroller used occasionally
-(didn't need bottles right away since I breastfeed)
HTH!

Thanks! Every list helps. Some people list some items that others can't think of or remember. There are several items that you have listed that I had not thought of. Thanks again!!! You were very helpful.

You're welcome! Glad to help
Oh I thought of another thing, not sure if you are going to breastfeed or not but I highly recommend getting tons of nursing pads (Lansinoh disposable or Organic cotton washables) and some nice comfortable nursing bras!

hmm...lets see...
Jayla is only 2 weeks 3 days so i may not have much but i will try.
-bottles(not breastfed)
-bottle washers
-bottle microwave sterilizer
-formula
-burp cloths
-tons of blankets
-hats...it will be cold! i didnt think i would use them but we use them everytime we go out
-crib (we dont co-sleep or have a bassinett)
-rocking chair (i love mine! i use it every night!)
-night light(i also use this everynight for when i need to go into her room)
-diapers (we didnt buy enough newborn cause i didnt think she would be in them too long)
-wipes
-swing (she loves her! shes in it all day!)
-play mat (although shes still young when she is alert i like to lay on the floor with her while shes under the play mat, she likes the colors)
-car seat
-car seat cover (really helps keep the cold//wind out)
- baby wash (we bathe her at night so mostly just use the nightime wash//lotion)
-baby bath (she hated her sponge baths and is fine actually being in the tub now)
-germ-x (i have a big bottle on her changing table, use it everytime i change her)
-bouncy seat (i put her in it in the bathroom with me while i shower)
-baby monitors
-binky (we didnt wanna use them but at night she wants to suck on her fingers and gets mad when i take them out so i give them to her at night)
-hooded towels//washclothes
-hairbrush (she doesnt have tons of hair but it can get messy)
-nail clippers, q-tips, nose sucker, thermometer
-crib mobile (use it every night, the one we have will start playing music if she starts crying in the middle of the night)
-sleep postitioner (use this in her crib every night, it helps make her feel secure)
-breast pads (even if your not bf, you will leak and need these)
-pads (pp bleeding, i get the overnight)
-boppy (this really helps in the middle of the night when im still sleepy. i put it around my waist and i dont worry about dropping her)
-diaper pail (i suggest the diaper champ. it doesn really well holdin the smell. i have to change it about every 3 days. and you can also just use regular trash bags with this one)
-newborn socks (all of the 0-6 month socks we recieved were way to big)
-something we dont have but could probably use is a wipe warmer. she HATES the cold wipes on her...but i think she is finally getting used to it.
ok that ended up being way longer than i thought. and thats all i can think of for right now.

Great question! I'm starting to freak out about this stuff so these lists are great for me. I think I actually have most of what you girls listed.
Thanks!

Great lists. You may not want to stock up too much on diapers or formula. You never know which brand is going to work best for baby. We can't use anything but pampers. All other diapers we've used have leaked on our skinny girls and they are allergic to something in the 7th generation brand.
we use lots of undershirts and cheap gerber type onesies now that it's cold as an extra layer.

Nipple cream, it was a lifesaver!
I spent a fortune on dummies (soothers) and she will only take NUK ones.
A basket/box of changing supplies downstairs to save you going upstairs every 5 minutes.
One very small outfit, I was told she would be 8.5lbs, she was 6lb 3 and I didnt even have NB szed anything!!.
I think the others more or less have everything covered.
