Sorry i'm posting this soooooo late! I was working the last 4 days and haven't had the chance. We told DH's mom last Saturday. We gave her a gift bag with a onsie inside that said "I love my grandma". We told her it was an early Halloween present. When she saw it she said "You're pregnant?" And i said yes. She didn't act SUPER excited but it wasn't a bad reaction either. TBH i was worried about how she'd react and it went better than i thought. She said congratulations and asked me a few questions. The only one in DH's family who had a really excited reaction was his grandma. I'm pretty sure they're all happy for us though.
Then we told MY family!  I gave my dad a gift bag with two grandma/grandpa bibs inside and i had my whole family watch him open it. He looked inside and looked at me like "what is this." I smiled and said "take it out." So he did and then he just looked at me. I said "read it". He gave me the cutest look and his eyes got SO big. I said "we're having a baby!" My whole family just kinda sat there for a minute not sure what to say. His eyes stayed huge for the longest time. One of my sisters were like "wait, you're not pregnant now are you?" (She later told me she thought we were announcing we were TTC). I said "yes i am" and everyone got all excited and ran over to me and gave me the biggest hugs. My little sister who was sick in her room heard and started jumping up and down shouting "you're going to have a baby!" My dad stayed in the chair for awhile, still looking so shocked. lol. It looked like he was going to cry which almost made me cry. He finally got up and gave me a hug. I got about 100 questions within the next 30 minutes.  Their reactions were all so amazing. It was simply perfect.
So there's my story ladies. Sorry I didn't post this sooner.

That's just awesome!!!! I love these stories. Question though...why weren't DH's family happy? Did anyone know you guys were TTC?

Congrats!! I still remember telling everyone with our first pregnancy  It was awesome!

Sounds like what happened with my dad/sister with my first pregnancy - I gave my dad a bib that said "I love Grandpa" and my dad didn't say anything and my sister just said "well, you're proactive" and didn't think I was actually pregnant yet. :-)

Yay! So glad it went so well! I'm sure Jimmy's family is excited - some people just aren't as outwardly emotional as others. It may require time for the reality of it to sink in for them before they start getting really bubbly and joyous about it.

Well i really think they are happy for us, they just don't seem really excited about it like my family is. We're not as close to them as my family. DH's mom used to really dislike me and now things are better between us but we still don't have a really close relationship. No one except my mom and sister knew we were TTC.

I was crying reading about your family. Thank is great that they were so excited.
