Hi girls,
So I got my belly button pierced in May this year (my husband still wasn't 'ready' to ttc, and it was something I always wanted to do, and had no idea he'd change his mind so fast...And even if he did, I expected it to take longer). Did anyone else go through a pregnancy with one of these things? I know about the longer bendy ones to hold the hole (I really love it, and there is some discoloration at the top of the piercing so I think it would be an ugly scar). I have heard that even if you take it out when you get pregnant, it won't be healed over by the time you show anyway - but would this be the case since mine is so recent? I wouldn't mind getting it re pierced. I can ask the girl at the piercing salon I guess, but I was wondering if anyone else had a similar experience/problem and might have some insight?
Thanks ladies!

I've had one for 12 years. With the first pregnancy I decided to let it go. I was told that it would take forever to heal up but mine closed up right away. My friend kept hers in with her pregnancies and it's really stretched out.

I'm 35 weeks and I *just* took mine out. I still put it in here and there to make sure it doesn't close up but I think it'll be fine. I'd say if you're worried about it to just get one of the pregnancy belly rings! You can google them.. there are tons.

I've had mine pierced for 9 years and have had it out the entire pregnancy. You could do what Erin suggested, or maybe see if they have one of those spacer ones that would be more comfortable. I read it can close up even after 6 years, but I think it depends on the individual.

I had to take mine out at 8ish months because I didn't have a ring long enough to keep in. I had had it for 11 years and it closed almost immediately. Same with my tongue

Hmm interesting. So none of you had stretching problems with the hole or I read one horror story online about a girl who got a giant stretchmark across the piercing (could have been a coincidence, and not related to the piercing)? Just Amanda had a friend whose hole stretched. Ugh, so hard to decide what to do, and hindsight is always 20/20! Maybe I'll take it out and get it redone after, since I may end up taking it out anyway like you guys did. Tough call. Thanks for the input!

My hole didn't stretch at all. I didn't get any stretch marks at all, but I remember a couple of girls getting them at the piercing site. They weren't awful or anything, though.
