My calves are really sore today...like tight, like i had gone for a run and not streched afterwards...(no worries, my knees can't handle running, so that's not it) I did go for a walk yesterday, but it was no longer than my walk to work...could my calves be hurting because I'm not drinking enough, or not getting enough of something in my system for baby? I babysat a girl once, that used to get calf cramps all the time (it is at that point where I'm worried to stretch it because it will become a calf cramp) and her mom told her she needed to drink more milk. I don't know if it's true or just an old wives tale?? I'm not really worried, just curious....

I think this is a pretty typical pg symptom Marci... I had it with bean #1 as well. I've read something about magnesium, calcium and/or potassium supplements helping if the cramps get too annoying/chronic. Ask your doc!

I actually did a typical workout after my bfp and my quads were pretty sore the next day. Also, I was getting leg cramps too! It sounds like what happened to me.

You are probably dehydrated. Especially in the beginning make sure you drink plenty of water. It's soooo important. I got cramps (like charlie horse pain) in my calves a lot too while I was pg. Especially after I walked to did some sort of exercise. So drink up girly!!!!!

I never in my life had gotten a charliehorse until I was pg. I got them every once in a while in my calves. From what I read it doesn't seem like there is a difinitive answer to why it happens. But I did read about calcium deficiency and a few other things. I would say go for the extra milk. It can't hurt. I think I also read that it could be related to potassium so maybe have a banana with it. Hope you feel better soon. It eventually did go away for me.

I always heard you needed more water or potassium. I was a big banana eater while pregnant and didn't really get them. That could be a coincidence though.

Yep, I got them too! Definately a sign you might be dehydrated and need some potassium. Stock up on some bananas! That helped me.
