**THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR RESPONSES - THEY REALLY REALLY HELPED KEEP ME CALM **
I have been surrounded by swine flu for the last few months - about 30 of my students have had it (though only 3 that I know of have it now)...however, I was really careful at school and never got it..
BUT, on Sunday, my husband got what we think is swine flu...we think he got it while we were waiting for a prescription at Walmart on Friday night, and were playing with kids bath toys and wandering around the pharmacy department for an hour cause they were super backed up (oh, and there were people hacking all around us)...
His symptoms: very very bad cough (the worst I've heard him have), severe body aches, stuffy nose, slightly sore throat, mild fever...he is still not over it (usually he gets over stuff in a few days, so this is very strange for him)...
Today, I woke up with scratchy throat, body ache, stuffy nose...I have started coughing also...and have a headache now, this definitely isn't a regular cold...though I still dont have a fever...
My OB had given my Tamiflu back in August when I first found out that some of my students had the flu...I didn't want to take it then as a preventitive measure, because I was being so careful, and I was still pretty early...
However, I've decided to take it now, just given my husband's symptoms, I'm 99% sure that I have it...and I usually get pretty bad lung infections with a normal cold (last time I got the flu, I got it very bad)...
Am hoping that I made the right decision...am going to call my OB tomorrow, but I'm pretty sure that she will think so...ugh!!!

Oh no I'm so sorry! That is exactly what I am worried about and nobody here has a vaccine even for pregnant women yet None of my students have it that I know of yet.
I'm so sorry about your husband. I hope you two feel better soon and I hope you have lots of sick time to use to rest and get well.

thanks...
Am taking the day off tomorrow - headache is worse, and I've already checked on baby twice today...
just so nervous that I'm hurting him...
Our school has had a major outbreak of it, I was ok, but with Matt having what we think is H1N1, I was couldnt avoid getting it...
We haven't gotten any vaccines in yet in our county, the more I read about them, the safer they seem, I kinda want Matt to go to the DR tomorrow jsut to find out if it is H1N1, so I'll know if I have had it (i.e. if this is it) or not...

OH no!!! My OB told me that he did NOT want me to get it till I'm out of the first trimester but after that he says that it's a must to get it! I know of w pregnant woman that has become seriously ill and hospitalized all because of H1N1. I think that you made the best decision!

We all three had the swine flu and it wasn't pleasant. Not terrible, but I was definitely down and out for 3 days. I really hope you don't get it! Just a thought on the vaccine, but if you already have the flu then the vaccine is a moot point. You will now have a natural immunity.

Oh no! I'm sorry to hear you're feeling sick and it might be swine flu. How scary. I'm hoping to get my H1N1 vaccine sometime in the next week but so far the hospital here hasn't released them yet even though they've had them for 2 weeks!

I'm so sorry you're both so sick. I think you're making the right call - the possible side effects of tamiflu would be nothing compared to you coming down with pneumonia or worse from H1N1. Take care and KUP

I'm so sorry you (and Matt) are sick Tonya. I really hope it is not the swine flu. Take good care of yourself, drink fluids, rest, and follow doctor orders. I got a bad cold two weeks ago and it is still around because pregnant woman apparently have compromised immune systems. I hope you feel better soon.

Well, called the OB, and they said to definitely do the 2x/day of Tamiflu...
They didn't have me come in, but they said that based on Matt's symptoms, they really think it is swine flu (our county has had a major outbreak)...
I took today off of work, which I hate doing, but I got lots of phlegm, runny nose, and scratchy throat, and just achy achy/headache stuff....still no fever, which is good...
So, Tamiflu it is...
I've already checked baby twice today...he seems to be doing well...and Matt is finally feeling better too, which is good...
