DH started feeling bad yesterday afternoon and then by the evening it hit him hard. So he stayed home from work and went to the doc today. They tested him for the swine flu and the test came back negative...good new right?!?! Well, doc said all of his symptoms lead him to believe he does in fact have the swine flu and that the test doesn't always show up or that he caught it so early and that's why it's not showing on the test. He seems to be feeling better already, but they are still treating it like the swine flu. They have him tamiflu and I guess we are gonna quarentine him to the bottom floor of the house and just pray pray pray Paige doesn't get it. And if that isn't bad enough, I was working nights this week so DH was taking care of Paige all alone (like last night) so I'm having to take off or switch my schedule around to care for her...I just soooo don't want her to get sick. I'm kinda worried.
Courtney - I know you guys got it at your house...have any sanitizing suggestions???

No, not a nurse, but a detective. I basically work 2 weeks of days (7am-3pm) and one week of nights (3pm-11pm). The night shift is starting to wear on us though.

Ugh, Gwen. It is sooooooo miserable. I hope Joe is back to feeling like himself very soon.
As for sanitizing, I totally quarantined Chris to our bedroom and wouldn't let him out except for bathroom and showering. I used Clorox wipes all over and had some success. I really think that I got it because I continued to sleep in bed with Chris because we are short a guestroom. I suspect that if I had made that one simple change Elliott and I could have stayed healthy. Luckily, E got the mildest case of all of us. I think that BF'ing that week really helped him to fight it. Chris was home all day on Tuesday with E and came home immediately after getting to work on Wednesday morning, but Elliott avoiding getting sick all the way until Monday. I'm pretty sure Elliott only go t sick because I finally succumbed on Friday and had no choice but to take care of him.
Sorry for the novel. I hope you and sweet Paige stay healthy!

Yuck, the flu sucks, especially with a baby! I really hope you and Paige don't get it! Are you still BFing at all? I think I remember you saying you were going to switch because of work, but if you still are, I would BF as much as possible. That way if you get it, you can pass on the immunities to keep it mild in Paige.
I'm curious, what made the dr say it was H1N1 and not seasonal flu? The flu test is wicked unreliable. I almost wonder why they even bother.

Funny!!! I actually love Law and Order SVU...it's WAYYYYY not realistic, but I love the show!!! It is a fun job, stressful, but fun!
DH was feeling better but then I guess the tamiflu kicked in because he ended up throwing up last night and was pretty sick to his stomach. I guess that's one of the side effects of the meds. No fun at all! He's hoping to feel better today! I sure hope so. He has been staying in the guest room and I don't allow him to come upstairs. He is home alone today so he will have to come up to get food and stuff, but I told him to make sure he wipes everything down he touches. I hope he feels better soon.
I'm actually not BFing anymore...it sucks though, I really wish I were especially now. UGH...
The doc thought it was the H1N1 because of the sudden onset, chills (might have been fever) and body aches. The doc said the test was very inaccurate and I had the same question...why even do it then? Who knows. The doc wanted to treat it like H1N1 since we have Paige in the house just to be sure.

I only asked because the symptoms are the same as seasonal. But they're treated the same as well, so I guess in the big scheme of things it doesn't matter. Crossing my fingers that you and Paige stay healthy!
