How do you clean them? Do you wash with any specific solution or just regular detergent and get as much poo off as you can before hand? I'm thinking of taking the leap after Lindsey's encouragement. Oh - and what are your favorite brands?

We used cloth diapers for my brother; we would shake it first in the toilet and then we use to use a bucket and fill up with hot water and dunk it in there. Charlie's soap is the BEST. It gets them REALLY clean.

They also invented these sprayers for cloth diapers that hook up to the toilet. Never used them but I guess it would be better than a pail.

When I have our first, I plan on using AIOs on stage 2 (I have some already) because I don't like to use them on newborns unless you're using prefolds.

We love cloth diapering! Here is my wash routine:

cold rinse with no detergent (this rinses the poo off)

hot wash with detergent (any kind with no perfume or fragrance)

cold rinse with no detergent

dry on medium heat

Edited to add: we don't do any prerinse right now because Brady is still EBF. Once he starts solids, we bought a diaper sprayer that hooks onto the back of the toilet. You just spray the poo off into the toilet and put the diaper into your wetbag until wash time.

One of our favorites right now is Bum Genius 3.0's which have velcro (it's called aplix). These are the only ones DH uses because the velcro closure is easy. Our other favorites are Goodmama's. We only have their "Ones" which are waterproof, but most of their other diapers are fitteds which aren't and need a cover. I'm getting some of those soon and will be getting a pair of wool longies to go over them.

I'd be happy to answer any questions you have about CD too. Like I said, we love it! He never has blowouts like he does in sposies.

Our wash routine is the same as Lauren's I squirt Bac-Out on poopy diapers to help with stains. (No scrapping needed for EBF just when start solids, I wish we had a toliet sprayer)
I use Arm & Hammer Free Sensitive Skin (other detergents he's allergic too, he gets detergent burns poor guy!)

Our favorites are BumGenius 3.0 Onesize with a SuperDo insert for nightime- no leaks and he wears it for 12 hours! For day we use BumGenius Organic AIOs and SmartiPants.

ouch Linds, degertent burns sound horrible.

Im looking forward to CD, ours are in the box ready to be shippped. I bought some birth to potty ones but they are massive, lol hopefully by the time our boxes arrive in oz they should fit her. Mine are just plain and simple cream and white with poppers but i can see how it can become addictive. I would love to make my own!!

Hollie there are some new things out by the makers of BumGenius which are like the GDiapers but not disposable washable inserts. I'm tempted to get a set actually!

My wash routine is this:
cold rinse with a squirt of Bac-Out
hot wash on the highest water level with Tide filled to just below the '1' line
extra cold rinse

Once a month, I add a squirt of Dawn and do several hot washes with no detergent at all.

With poopies, we either scrape the poo into the toilet or spray it off.

My favorite brands right now because Elliott goes to daycare are: BG's One Size Organic, Thirsties AIO's, TKC AIO's and Clover fitteds.
