I know that this has been asked a million times on this board but I can never remember the answers.
When is a good time to rent a doppler. I know for most people they will be able to pick up the heartbeat by doppler sometime between 12 and 16 weeks. Also what company does everyone think is the best company to rent from? How long do you recommend renting it for. Once you felt the kicking on a regular basis did you find yourself still using the doppler? Sorry for the 50 questions just trying to decide. Thank you

I purchased a cheap (30 dollars) AngelSounds one... i like having my own, though its not the strongest and it doesnt measure the heartrate. I could regularly hear baby around 15 weeks but i think that most people can hear a little earlier, idk why i couldnt

I bought for three reasons:
1. cause it ended up being around the same price as to rent, and the difference in quality only amounted to about a 1 week lag
2. I know that we will be trying for more kids some day...

I got a HiBebe - I think it was less than $100 from ebay...
I could hear baby at 12 weeks/barely...but I have a very retroverted uterus, so my OB said it would have been earlier if not for that (I think the average with that one is around 10 weeks)...
It does display the heartrate on the monitor...

Oh, and now, baby HATES it, every single time I uses it, he kicks it, which I personally find to be amusing to no end!!

I rented mine from belly beats . com i think... I didn't actually think I would keep it as long as I have...I was able to hear HB at 10 weeks (although I had to use it way down near my pelvic bone) -- and I got the kind that shows the heart rate.

You'd think I would have returned it by now...but I have a day every now and then where I don't feel the little one kick much - so I'll pull it out for peace of mind. If I had known I was going to have it this long...I would have purchased it...but the peace of mind it has given me has been so worth it!

thank you for that info. Does anyone know what the difference is between the belly beats (which costs $599) and the hibebe (which costs $99.00)? Just curious to see if there is any real difference in the two.

From what I understand, the difference is 1-2 weeks - as far as when you can hear baby...I could hear baby right around when my OB could with her really good doppler...

If you are already 9 1/2 weeks, you will probably be able to hear baby with either within the next 2 weeks or so...

One tip, go way way low, like near your pubic bone...I couldn't believe how low baby was - oh, and push in a bit to pick it up...

We bought the angel sounds doppler for about $35.00 Jumper AngelSounds Fetal Doppler Baby Heart Prenatal Monitor-JPD 100S It works perfectly everytime we use it. I first heard my baby's HB at about 10-11 weeks. I still use it from time to time, but my little guy kicks me so much I don't really need it. Good luck picking out a doppler!

I personally posted this thread myself...but because I am a worrier by trade...I think I have decided not to get one...for the time being anyway...once the dr. can hear the HB, then I will think about getting one...but until then, it would just stress me out, because I would just worry something is wrong. But that is just me...I was looking at lots on ebay, they seem good, for a good price.
