Me and Dh has been buying diapers since 12 weeks, we want to have a good bit already bought so when the baby gets here it won't be extra cost for when I am on maturinity leave.
I was wondering of how many packages should I buy of each size???
we have 3 packages of size 2, which is like 80 diapers in each package
we have 1 box (156 diapers) and probably 3 bags of diapers(60 i think in each bag), of size 3
we haven't started size 4 yet but we don't want to have TOO MANY, we rather if we have to buy a bag here and there then to have to much of a particular size..
we also have 17 packages of 80 count wipes bought so far!
I know all babies ain't the same... but I would like an average count should I have! lol...
Thanks~!!!

Wow, he's really on top of things!!! The only diapers we have are from my shower (which are quite a few actually) I wanted to wait and see how big our little guy is when he's born before we buy more, and how many we go through. We have some newborn sizes, quite a few 1's and 2's (which seem pretty similar to me) and a big box of size 3 (my mom found them on sale) Honestly, if I were you I would hold off on the size 4 for now. You can always buy more, but can't return them.

Do you have any newborn dipes? We went through quite a bit of those and the cut-out for the umbilical stump was REALLY helpful. As for the larger sizes, I'm not sure because we cloth diaper, but I feel certain that others will have some great advice.

You will probably need some newborn dipes too. Everyone told me "Oh you only use them for a little while" however, we used them for like 2 months!! And it's not like she was super small or anything (she was 7lbs when she was born). So def get some of them and size 1...she's 5 months old and we are still in size 1. Just a thought.

I am going to start doing the same thing starting next week. I will buy a box of diapers/wipes every time I go to the store.
This question was asked in the June DDC and one lady said her daughter spent the longest time in size 2. I'm sure it varies from child to child, but I'm sure whatever you buy you'll use!

I wouldn't buy size 4, 3's go up to, like 28 lbs, so it's not uncommon for baby to potty train before growing out of size 3. Cherie was 7.12 when she was born and she was in newborn diapers for 6 weeks and size 1 for another 2ish months. If you're concerned about money while on mat leave, stock up on newborn and 1's. You can always exchange them for larger sizes later. Plus, you really don't want to have to worry about buying diapers those first few weeks! Also don't forget that different diapers work for different babies. I was a huge huge Pampers fan until I had Cherie, always used them when I was a nanny. But Cherie would leak out of them, she does better in Huggies. We mostly cloth diaper, but I still use sposies at night.

I would definitely stock up on Newborn diapers because your baby will be in those for the first month at least (unless you have a peanut like Bella who had to wear preemie's for the first 2 weeks). my niece is 2 years old and is in size 4s so you have plenty of time for that size. newborn, 1's and 2's are your best bet. I bought different brands of newborns to see what worked best and so far pampers are the best for us. Bella leaked out of the huggies, so it really depends on your baby's shape, I guess.
for an idea of wipes, Bella is 1 month old and we are finishing up one box of 364count wipes. you have plenty of wipes for now!!!

While stocking up is a great idea, like someone mentioned, different diapers work for different babies. I would say keep what you have now and get a couple packs of newborn sized diapers and, instead of buying diapers, put that money aside somewhere (where you won't spend it) to save up for later. You don't want to end up with 85 boxes of pampers when only huggies works for your baby, kwim? Not only are leaks a problems for some, but some babies are actually allergic to some materials in certain diapers. You just don't know until your baby's here.
Sizes also vary by baby (obviously ). Christian was not in newborn diapers long and was in size 3 the longest. We just moved to size 4 in October. Some babies in my PR have been in size 5 for a while.

I agree with the pp. While most babies can tolerate all diapers, some can't! I have a friend who can ONLY use Pampers and a neighbor who can only use Luvs. I would hate to see you have a stockpile of diapers that you can't use!
If you still want to buy diapers, I would get a couple newborn ( you will probably use at least 10 diapers a day for the first 2 weeks) and then 1's and 2's. You can always exchange them for a bigger size if you need to. Lily is 4 months old, and she is still wearing size 1.

I agree on being careful what you stock up on. Someone gave us a few packages of 7th generation diapers and both girls were really allergic to them. They got horrible diaper rashes, so we couldn't use them. They were also in NB sized for 8 weeks. We have a bunch of Pampers size 1, which we can use now, but for a few weeks there nothing fit well. We tried 4 different kinds and had big blow outs in all of them.

Summer was in newborn size for close to 2 months. She was in size 1 for awhile too!! She has been in size 3 for months!! I don't really know how long but I would definately say she has been in size 3 for the longest time yet.
I agree about the brand thing, I started out with pampers, went to huggies and now use pampers again.
Maybe stock up on wipes instead? we go through those like there is no tomorrow! I don't have a brand preference so long as they are the sensitive ones I am not fussy.
