ALright so i know this is kind of a stupid question... but, i'm curious as i start to get bigger soo i'll bite the bullet and ask Could it harm baby if my dog walks, or jumps (gently) on my tummy? Obviously i dont let her do it by choice but sometimes when i'm laying on the couch or in bed in the morning she jumps on my or walks over me before i can say anything. She's only 20lbs so its not like shes big or anything, and it doesnt really hurt but i can't help but wonder if the sudden pressure on the tummy could hurt something. She also likes to rest her head on my tummy but her head weighs no more then a plate or something so i know thats no biggie! Lol.

I'm sure she won't do any damage. Think of all the moms out there who have toddlers climbing all over them during pregnancy. I have a big cat who loved to lay on my belly. It got uncomfortable for me though, so I had to stop him. He then started to lay curled around my belly when I laid on my side. I'm sure he'll just get more uncomfortable as time goes on, but won't do anything to the baby. Baby is really cushioned in there.

Baby is VERY well protected in there - your dog laying his head on your tummy or putting a paw on there or something isn't going to do any harm...

I wouldn't allow the dog to walk all over your belly or jump on it though - it probably wouldn't harm anything but I know it'd freak me out.

My dogs are bigger (40 lbs and 60 lbs) though.

Thanks! I prefer she doesnt do it but sometimes like i said i can't stop her Of course in bed i have a comforter over me but on the couch ya know its just usually a thin blanket so theres no extra protection when she decides to go crazy and jump up

I wouldn't worry. Our bodies are built to protect baby, so having dog walk/jump on you may be jarring but probably won't hurt you. I'd say that the only time to really try to keep her at bay is when you're getting into the late 3rd trimester, because sometimes falling or having something hit you can send you into early labor.

I have a dachshund, he is somewhere between 15-20 lbs. and he used to jump up on my belly unexpectedly and I kind of freaked but it did no harm at all. Hope that helps!!
